I LOVE this graphic which explains that it requires the Adult to change their mindset in order to effect behaviour! I’ve laminated a copy and will be putting it on the table at a lot of future meetings and tapping it when people keep using the ‘won’t’ word or claim that it is a behavioural issue!!

Still spaces if anyone is interested. This is not what most would consider ‘Mindfulness’. It is a serious of strategies that children and young people can use to help manage their emotions.

A lot of my clients would benefit from these sessions.

This is something I copied a few years ago that maybe useful for people to share and adapt for their own uses. Please ensure you acknowledge the original writer.
Dear Family and Friends:
I understand that we will be visiting each other for the holidays this year. Sometimes these visits can be very hard for me, but here is some information that might help our visit to be more successful.

I have always thought the Very Christmas advert was the best this year and then I find that the music and singing is Reeah, a visually impaired child with an amazing voice. Well done Very on not only making an appropriate and heartwarming advert but producing it appropriately and utilising the amazing talents of the disabled community. They definitely win the Christmas Ad War this year!
The thing that really gets me, is they aren’t shouting about it! I can’t find a link to t...he advert that talks about Reeah, or about how they have helped others and given gifts that mean something. Either their marketing department is crap, or they just haven’t milked the fact that they’ve done it right! Either way, kudos! #LoveGiving https://www.very.co.uk/lovegiving.page https://youtu.be/U3I39nu2N5M

There is a lot of information available for parents to help make the EHCP process easier, however, getting access to this information is becoming increasingly difficult.
With the loss of the Independent Support Service across the country, already overwhelmed SENDIASS services are expected to pick up the slack, and the service you receive from them very much depends on how independent they are from the Local Authority. Some are fiercely independent while others actually sit in... the same office as the SEND Teams at County. The level of service varies greatly across the country.
The best place for parents to access the Independent Advice about completing the application forms or what happens at Annual Reviews is the support groups that are an essential part of Facebook and real life. As I have discovered while on this 7 year journey: no one is more knowledgeable than another SEN Parent!
I am a member of a number of Support Groups both virtual and real and I post all the documentation I have that would help with the processes in these groups so they are available to all. I would love to post them here but unfortunately FB doesn't allow you to post documents to a page!
So if you would like to access these documents these are some of the groups I am a member of:
SPACE https://www.facebook.com/groups/523248431 177965/
EHCP In Herts For Parents/Carers https://www.facebook.com/groups/EHCPHerts /
Families in Focus CIC https://www.facebook.com/groups/184975381 651870/
Holland Support Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/694972757 278567/
ADD-Vance https://www.facebook.com/groups/677078875 703666/
You can always ask to join these groups if you are not a member already. some are just on FB and some host real life meetings where you can speak to other SEN Parents that understand the journey you are on. They are all different and unique in their own way and you will find the group that suits you!
I hope to speak to you through these groups soon!
Liz
