If you were anything like us, and grew up watching the epic @bigupclimbing #DOSAGE MOVIES, ‘Off The Wagon’ would have been just one of mega blocs that would have got you psyched to get out and climb! • Huge shout out to @shawnraboutou for making the FA of this low start extension! • #Repost @dawoods89 with @get_repost... ・・・ hyped to hear that @shawnraboutou just made the FA of the low start to @nalle_hukkataival "Off the Wagon" in Bavona, Swizzyland. Shawn is proposing 8C+ (v16), making it the current hardest bloc in Swiss. This boulder was first made famous by @chris_sharma back in the Dosage series days. cant wait to get out there and try it now.
Soon Shawn, @giuliano_cameroni and I will be dropping a ton of footage over the year on our youtube channel dubbed Mellow. Off the Wagon, The Smile, Box Therapy, and Finnish Line are just a few heavy hitters that will be featured... climbing porn is on its way to you all so stay tuned

THE NORTH FACE: THE GEAR THAT KEEPS GIVING
WE HAVE TEAMED UP WITH THE NORTH FACE TO RECYCLE YOUR OLD, UNWANTED OUTDOOR KIT!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
... GATHER Collect your used outdoor clothing, footwear and equipment, and bring them into Reading Climbing Centre between the 26th November 2018 and 21st January 2019. They can be from any brand, but need to be in usable, clean condition.
REWARD Drop your items off in the collection unit, located on the mezzanine, and earn £15 reward towards your next purchase at The North Face. Ask a member of staff for a coupon when you deposit your outdoor clothing, footwear or equipment. With every piece donated, you’ll be helping to inspire and enable the next generation to get outdoors. All items donated will go to our chosen charity of Priors Court.
Prior’s Court Foundation is a registered non-profit making charity managing a specialist residential school, young adult provision and a training and development centre, supporting and improving life chances for young people aged 5-25 who are severely affected by autism. Set on a beautiful 50 acre site in West Berkshire, they have extensive facilities adapted to support the complex needs of young people with severe autism.
EMPOWER The Gear That Keeps Giving is The North Face’s initiative to support organisations, youth groups and charities working in the outdoors. The outdoor gear you donate makes a real difference to the local community organisations, youth groups and charities, enabling more people to become explorers and Stewarts of the environment by helping them discover natures playground.

I do enjoy this roof though I can only do routes on the far right so I can heel hook the edge!

We've climbed here before and my son has been along to some fantastic group sessions and birthday parties. Today in preparation for a cubs fun day Archie had an hours abseiling session with Heather. He's been a bit nervous recently of heights but came away having completed several climbs and full on drop edge abseils feeling so confident and self assured. He was on cloud 9! I can't thank Heather enough! Her calm and patient attitude put him completely at ease (even when hanging off a rope 6 metres in the air!) Food was good too!

User

We had our sons 7th b'day party here!! Some of the boys were new to climbing bit scared but the instructors were brilliant , the boys simply loved it. Thank you once again :)

User

We had a great first cost today thanks to the guys that made it fun for Tyler. £16 is a bargin for 1 and half hour.

User

We called in on the way home after Chessington was rained off. Staff were fantastic! Managed to squeeze our 2 children in for an hours 2:1 with Heather. She was great with them! Having child friendly staff is always a bonus! She took on board they’d climbed before and let them lose on the ‘big’ walls as they put it.

Will definitely be back, and not just on a rainy day!

Visited RCC yesterday with my 6 & 8 year olds for “little monkeys” & “Rock-it” taster sessions. They had a fabulous time. Furthermore, after a small booking glitch on their part, I was thoroughly impressed that they ran an extra little monkey session so my youngest’s first introduction to climbing ended up with 1 on 1 tuition. Fabulous customer service, really friendly knowledgeable staff, and a truly great indoor climbing wall. We will be back.

User

This was our first experience climbing for my finacees 33rd birthday and we had a great time! We had Dan as our instructor/guide and he was great, very approachable, funny and understanding of our abilities. Great place and equipment. Will be going again!

User

My family and I are total beginners and found the staff warm and inviting- great family fun and challenging, as 3/4 has a fear of heights 😂

User

My daughter loves coming and this has convinced me and my husband to enrol on the beginners course ,and with one week to go we are very much enjoying x

User

I've been coming to RCC since the week it opened a few years back; the wall, both bouldering and roped climbing, is in my opinion the best in the south - I've been to a number of others and they're simply not as large and diverse. Staff are lovely and the cafe is great too - almost worth a visit just for the cake! While it's not cheap, there are enough routes of pretty much every grade to be able to spend a whole day here.

User

Had my daughters 7th birthday party here on Sunday and it was fantastic. The climbing instructor managed to control all the kids and they had great fun. The food was perfect as well, especially the pizza!

User

Had a barnstorming time at the WBL this year and was great to take part. Made major strides and that is in no small part to the friendly staff and partakers, who at whatever level they are, are happy to stop and give you advice, if you require it.

User

Been coming to RCC for a while. Not only are the staff friendly but the people that go are great. Even if your climbing by your self it won't take long till you have lots of partners or friend to keep you company.

To top that great setting makes this one of the best in the area.

User

Absolutely fantastic...we had a great instructor called Mark, who was patient, fun and full of encouragement for my 2 children. My daughter is particularly challenging but this didn't faze Mark at all and he seemed to just understand my children and help them push their limits. Both have come home worn out and proud of themselves so thank you very much mark! Also a big thank you to Tom who had great customer service and talked me through all the climbing options and what might suit us best. Really great family day out!

User

A brilliant climbing centre! The coaches are excellent. From the moment you reach reception you know you're in good hands and are going to experience a great climb. The holds are regularly changed so the challenges are new every week. Worthwhile a visit from the experienced to novices. We now go at least twice a week.

User

I was forced here for "team building" at work. After wedging my fat arse (literally wedging) into a harness the panic of my colleagues watching me sweat like a pig as I scaled the walls set in. I was clearly the least fit of the group and everybody's apparent sucess meant I HAD to make it to the top. Thankfully the staff were really amazing (even if they did need a sandbag to counterweight me - oh the shame) and supportive. It ended up being pretty fun in the end which I attribute in full to the staff who made me feel slightly less of a failure and even secretly helped me along the way. I managed to appear successful to my colleagues and not embarrass myself too much.

User

Great place! I've only been bouldering so far, although there are plenty of auto belays to try later!

The routes are good, with a lot of cross over. Meaning you get to try different holds and it also boosts confidence.

Hopefully I'll be able to go more often!

User

Great centre with super cool routes. Staff should work on their customer service skills though.

User

Used to be a really cool place to climb, but seems to have gone downhill last year or so.

New annual pass holder benefits announced months ago with the price rise but apparently have been forgotten about and actually not exist.

A nice looking cafe but a regular iced coffee will set you back more than a large at Costa or Starbucks and cakes that aren't a patch on what they used to be, the doughnuts and pizza are pretty good though.

A speed climbing auto belay that is apparently never going up, toilet/changing room renovation that is taking forever to complete.

Huge groupes of kids at parties, which is in itself fine, but at least send the parents up to the cafe so they aren't in the way of everyone and making it hard to get around and blocking loads of routes.

Plus the prices have gone up!

When my annual pass runs out in a few months Oakwood is looking very appealing. Much better cleaner facilities with a huge and very cool training/campus board area even has loads of gym equipment!

It's a real shame how far behind RCC has fallen :(

User

Great centre my son loved it and enjoy the session with the instructor, however beware the prices are very high and if you book a session you need to give them 2 weeks to make any change whatsoever, they are very inflexible in this respect 2 weeks is extreme.
