Something for the weekend...
Water play in this heat is always going to go down well! 🌞🌞🌞
Not only is this game fantastic for letter recognition but using the spray bottle also helps develop your child's motor skills which will make it easier for them to grip a pen and write! There's always the added bonus that they can spray themselves or you when it gets too hot 😊

We're big fans of The Moomins here in the Reading Fairy household and this piece by Tove Jansson is perfect for our Thought for Thursday:
"One summer morning at sunrise a long time ago I met a little girl with a book under her arm. I asked her why she was out so early and she answered that there were too many books and far too little time. And there she was absolutely right."

⭐ Exciting news!! ⭐
Our lovely Jo is now officially a Reading Fairy as she completed her head office training last week. Jo was trained by Reading Fairy co-founder Charlotte Raby and the lovely Gemma from Reading Fairy York!
She's raring to go and will be alongside me this summer delivering some of our best summer specials!

Something for the weeknd...
Today is National best friends day ❀. My favourite part of being a Reading Fairy is watching friendships develop and grow. What better way to make friends than through sharing stories, dancing, singing and having fun!

One of the best ways of encouraging your children to read, is for them to see you reading yourself. I'm just starting to emerge from the fog and think about reading again and have unusually given into peer pressure and bought this. What are you reading at the moment?

These poems are going down well in our house at the moment with our 4 year old! Poems and stories are a lovely way to help children learn how to vocalise emotions they may not fully understand or be able to explain.

"The tiger drank all of the water in the tap" has been code for "I don't want a bath mummy" in our house ever since we read 'The Tiger who Came to Tea'.
We are extremely sad to hear of Judith Kerr's passing today but will be forever grateful for the words she left behind. We'll always be waiting for the knock on the door from the tiger and forever curious as to why Mog likes to eat eggs πŸ₯š

It's World Dinosaur Day πŸ¦– ROAR!!
We love a dinosaur book in our house and our favourite is 'How to Grow a Dinosaur' by Caryl Hart and Ed Eves. What are your favourite dinosaur themed books?

One of my favourite books that we read in class is Oliver Jeffers 'How to Catch a Star'. This is a lovely account of how the book was created:

I'd choose 'Oh The Places You'll Go' by Dr Seuss ❀

Sorry we've been a bit quiet over here, I've been in a bit of a baby bubble! So to kick things off again I thought I'd share this gorgeous video of my eldest reading to his baby brother 😍

We've just finished the Winnie the Pooh collection, what books have you been reading to your little ones or even yourselves tonight?
