Twelve years ago today I moved into The Recruiting Sergeant, four years ago I took over the business on my own. I would like to thank you all for your amazing support, I have made some truly great friends. To celebrate we're holding a party tomorrow evening from 7pm, you're all welcome. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!

Went for a meal for the first time here since moving to Gonerby 8 years ago.

Can’t believe we left it this long. A really lovely little restaurant area, clean and modern decor.

We had steak medium and well done, which were cooked to perfection and the chips were amazing!!! Brilliant food, Brilliant staff! We will definitely return.

We've just moved into the area and luckily have this little gem at the bottom of our street. Good food and lovely staff �

We stayed overnight up the road whilst completing Tough Mudder myself, my husband and 2 children thought we would try here after reading good reviews. The food was cooked to perfection every bite was delicious, the quality of the food was great. My children thought it was the nicest meal they ever had. Bar staff and waitress were lovely, accommodating and made us feel very welcome. Great value for money and we will definitely be returning. Thank you all very much for a lovely memorable evening �

We have not long moved from London to this area.. however we have made this pub our local.. great food.. always fresh vegetables cooked to perfection.. staff welcoming.. its quirky and quaint..we are now regulars on a Sunday afternoon and love trying to solve the puzzle of the week ( which is on the blackboard by the bar).. if your wanting a meal in the restaurant it is advisable to book as they are quite busy.. down side wanted to go for a meal on my birthday in the evening but restaurant although open every lunchtime is not open certain nights during the week so best check.. but worth a visit if your passing.

Took my parents here today for the Sunday lunch. Absolutely beautiful meal. Such nice polite staff and probably the most organised restaurant I've been to in a while. The food was fresh and presented beautifully and the place was immaculate. No loud music playing just a happy singing voice coming from the kitchen. Will definatly be returning and totally recommend giving this place a visit. Well done to all the staff.

Tonight we enjoyed a fantastic meal cooked by Alison. The food was cooked to perfection , great portions and the staff were all very accommodating . We would highly recommend anybody to try this pub for the great atmosphere and the food.

This is a lovely little pub....the staff are very welcoming and can not do enough for you to ensure you enjoy your visit. The food is very good as well as the service.

The steak and ale pie is delicious, served with fresh vegetables and extra gravy, if desired. The service is always very friendly and efficient. Love our Saturday lunches here �

Just popped in by chance to this fantastic place.

On our way back from Manchester and needed food!

What a warm welcome they gave us and sorted us out for food even though we were late and five minutes past serving.

The roast was very tasty indeed.

The surroundings are authentic and the place was very clean.

Thank you Recruiting Sergeant, we will be visiting again soon.

Just across the road from us, we use it now and again.

Food is always quality, they do a great prawn cocktail and a good choice of beers.

Great friendly staff, great food, service with a smile and highly recommended.

Had my wifes Birthday party at the recruiting sergeant, fabulous atmosphere scrumptious home made food, atentive polite staff they even recommended a brilliant DJ and all at a very affordable price. Thanks Alison.

Great little good old English Pub but with a lovely little restaurant “out the back”. Good Menu great food and properly priced. Strong recommendation from me.

Found this little gem by accident came off the main road ( Manchester back to London) to find somewhere to have something to eat. Food was really nice enjoyed every bite. Staff friendly and helpful. It's well worth the small detour. Definitely would stop there again.

Fantastic food, great service and friendly staff. Just off the A1 past the services and on the Main Street. Will call again when using the A1!

Brilliant friendly pub, with good good & amazing service.

Bought my mum for a meal last night. My mum had bean vegetable bake and I have Lincolnshire sausage and mash. God it was good!!.. Even told the lady who came to clear our plates that I could eat it all again!.. what a lovely meal!.. lovely village pub!.. will defiantly be back.. thank you..

excellent lunch served in part by the lovely Alice. The Golden Years specials are just right for lunch and the house red was pretty good too!
