Rectory Cottages Bletchley Description

Dating from about 1475, Rectory Cottages boasts a medieval hammerbeam roof structure, one of only about a dozen in secular buildings in the UK. The building is now used as the local "village hall" with all profits generated being used to preserve the building.

Rooms are let by the session (morning, afternoon ar evening). Prices start at £10 per session for the smaller rooms and £15 per session for the main hall.

In support of our local hospice (Willen Hospice) we’re hosting a collection for the next few weeks. We’re looking for unopened moisturisers, shower and/or bath gels, hand washes, baby products (bathing products, lotions. moisturiser and talcs), baby wipes and tissues as well as clean hand and bath towels. There will be a collection point in the office at Rectory Cottages from tomorrow (21st March) until 15th April. Please donate if you can.

... Michael Brown's talk about the uses of poisonous plants includes stories of Magic, Myth, Murder and Passion.
Michael has been a Head Gardener, a college lecturer and designed the medieval gardens at Prebendal Manor, Nassington. His book Death in the Garden: Poisonous Plants & Their Use Throughout History was published in 2018.
All are welcome. BAHS membership is £12 p.a. (£10 concessions, couples £15) plus £2 per lecture attended. Non-members £4 per lecture, students free.

I regularly attend meetings of the Milton Keynes Astronomical Society at this venue. It is always neat and tidy and a great venue. I also enjoy looking at the carvings on the ancient wooden beams which are part of the structure of this historical venue
