Morning!
I hope everyone enjoyed the free music last night 😆 Apologies for this slightly long post, but really hoping to get the community working together to reduce our collective waste.
Although many of us already recycle at the kerbside and/or the recycle centre, there is a wide spectrum of the amount of recycling residents are doing within the community, for various reasons.
... I've managed to obtain a large plastic container from Persimmon and want to use it as a community collection point for many recyclable products, to reduce the amount entering landfill via our general waste. These products will include plastic pots, tubs and trays (PTT), children's food pouches, crisp packets, bread bags, toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes, cosmetic packaging and more. Please see the images below for further important details.
It is important that many of these products are clean - especially those that have contained meat, etc.
Among the images below is my own PTT, which can be taken to the recycle centre (not currently at kerbside) and it will give you an idea of what is meant by PTT.
I'll be giving updates on the amount we have collected, so we can see as a community not only what we are recycling but consuming too. Once I have a decent amount I'll be taking them to the correct location. This will mean we will be reducing our collective carbon footprint as only one person will be going to the recycle centre rather than many and also helping those who don't have the means to get there.
You can drop off your products to be recycled at any time by just dropping them at my door, 23 Pippin Road. Any carrier bags you leave will also be recycled too.
If you want to join the Community Climate Change Group, then join us tomorrow at 19.00 at Pippin Road park, next to the playground. Find us under the gazebo!
Please share this information with friends and neighbours who may not be on this page.
Many thanks, Tom.

Sorry if this is a repeat! 😆

Disposable nappies are not recyclable, even if they claim to be biodegradable or compostable...
If you'd prefer not to throw nappies into landfill, you could try reusable nappies. Many companies offer trial kits, or you could check out Carry Me Kate Sling Library, which is setting up a nappy library in this area 👍

Some helpful info on tea bag brands, with and without plastic. Does anyone use loose leaf tea? Any tips to share? ☕ 😊
