Reducing The Risk Of Domestic Abuse Description

Reducing the Risk is a small domestic abuse charity. We work with partner organisations including the police, children's services, health workers and local councils to provide services for adults and children who are affected by domestic abuse and violence.

Reducing the Risk began as an Oxfordshire charity, but our work now reaches across the Thames Valley and beyond. We were established in 2007 and provide Oxfordshire’s Independent Domestic Violence Advice (IDVA) service for victims at high risk, which has worked with over 1, 000 adults and their 1, 500 children over the past seven years.

We have also trained over a thousand frontline staff from a range of organisations as “Domestic Abuse Champions” who work together in the community and in schools as a one stop shop for victims, providing support and advice, and ensuring they don’t have to go from one agency to another to repeat their story to get the help they need. Reducing the Risk has won regional and national awards for this work.

Reducing the Risk and our partners know that working together, good information sharing, clear pathways to specialists with the authority and experience to keep victims and their children safe, and recognising risk early on, will ensure those affected by abuse are supported from their first contact, through change, to recovery, transforming their lives.
