About Reflections Nursery & Small School

We believe all children have the right to be understood as individuals and to be given time and opportunity to develop as creative, competent learners in a secure and inspiring environment, with lots of access to the outdoors.

Reflections Nursery & Small School Description

We draw our inspiration from the infant-toddler centres and pre-schools of Reggio Emilia in Northern Italy and we operate a Forest School taking children aged 3-5 years into local woodland.

There has been much discussion with our beach school groups about a Worthing project called, 'The Last Fisherman Standing'. We have shared documentaries and images to allow children to engage with this project exploring how the local fishing industry has changed over the years.
Having spent time with the fisherman observing their fish the children have been creating lots of drawings. We then worked together to create a composition of the drawings and had some of the images printed on the side of the fisherman's hut. 🐠 🐟 🎣 https://www.lastfishermanstanding.org.uk< br>

Our new infant school is in its third term and has just been inspected by Ofsted. The inspector showed support for our project-based learning approach she commented-
'The quality of teaching has developed rapidly since the school opened in September 2017. Effective teaching ensures that children make rapid progress during early years so that they are well prepared for the next stage of their learning'
'Teachers make good use of pupils’ interests, ideas and questions to shape... the direction of learning'
We are delighted with the outcome and would like to take this opportunity to thank our Small School families for their continued support.

This is an exceptional nursery setting. Both my children have really flourished here and Reflections has given them an extraordinary start to life. The additional forest school resource has given my daughter such valuable experience, skills and confidence.

User

This Reggio-inspired school is an inspiration to people all over the world.

User

Thank you for posting such wonderful photos on your fb page. As someone who has worked all my life in early childhood contexts, I recognize this as having exemplary characteristics. I can see reflections of Reggio Emilia without the classic error of trying to replicate what is essentially Italian, in a completely different context. I can see how much hard work is being done in reflective practice. Thank you for enabling others access to your work.

Thank you for opening your Nursery and Small School for the Worthing Artists Open House Gallery Trail.

What a truly inspirational and creative environment you have created.

5 Stars totally well deserved.

User

Such an incredibly inspiring day and thoroughly thought provoking! Attended with colleagues and cannot recommend a visit as a CPD opportunity highly enough!

User

Reflections succeeded in giving my daughter the very best start - education, fun, friendships, social skills and love ♡. Can't rate them highly enough!

User

Reflections is a fantastic nursery! Both our boys had some fantastic times in their amazing garden growing their own produce and getting involved with the chickens too! Our eldest son loved beach school and has learnt so much from from his time at nursery. Staff are brilliant and very caring. Keep up the good work guys!

User

Reflections Nursery, according to my girls is their 2nd home. They love all the fun things they do, the food is yummy and love playing in the garden with their friends. For Mum and Dad it's happiness in knowing that you are leaving your children in a safe, happy, educational environment surrounded by the same love and care that they get at home.

User

Reflection's has been a caring, creative and nurturing place for our daughter to grow within. Eliza always looked forward to going to nursery and adored spending time in the garden exploring and playing. She always left with a big smile on her face talking of the activities she's been involved in. Could not speak more highly of the nursery and the staff.

User

My daughter joined this nursery when she was 11 months old after a tough start in life. The staff were so caring and sensitive to her needs all the way through her time there. The facilities and ethos behind the nursery are unrivalled, in my opinion. By the time she left to start school, she was a self assured individual fully prepared for the next chapter. I can't thank everyone enough for taking such good care of her and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place!

User

My daughter has just left Reflections and my son is starting next week. It's very hard to write a review that really does justice to this nursery. It is an exceptional place, staffed by exceptional people. My daughter had an amazing three years there. The staff are caring, affectionate and attentive, and environment is thoughtfully and carefully designed. Forest school is ace. Beach school is ace. It's all just ace. Love it. Wish she didn't have to leave!

User

Lovely nursery with a range of activities to help with children's development! The staff are amazing! Both my kids went there and absolutely loved it from day one till the end! Forest school is the icing on the cake! That was the best experience for my 2! Amazing!

User

If you're looking for something special for your child then I'd definitely recommend Reflections. More than just being leaders in their field they have great staff who have made our two girls feel valued and able to grow in their own way, the right way. The forest school made the girls feel important and independent and has shaped them to be inquisitive and bold. I really believe that Reflections has given them the best footing for school and has shaped how they approach life. Thank you!

User

If at first the lack of brightly coloured plastic toys puzzles you, as soon as you speak to Martin or any of his staff and learn the principles and theories behind the Reggio Emilia approach, you will be totally inspired.

The nursery provides a simple but beautifully sensory environment for discovery and creativity, observed and supported by its fantastic staff, who guide the children along their own lines of interest, helping them to explore further and progress their own learning in a completely child-led way, resulting in delightfully charming projects which are cleverly documented and presented for parents and children to treasure.

Every corner, every little nook, is so carefully thought out; with all materials thoughtfully considered to provide a space that encourages the children to communicate, collaborate, investigate and explore.

Thank you Reflections. We couldn’t have wished for a more nurturing environment for our children to begin their lives in.

User

I love working here so much, I can't wait to wake up everyday!

User

I have worked in the early years sector for nearly 28 years and every time I visit Reflections nursery I am inspired by the level of dedication from all the staff and how they truly listen to the children in their care placing them at the centre of everything they do. The skills the children are developing are clear to see from an early age. They are given opportunity and time to develop and refine skills and staff promote creative and critical thinking processes in their long term project work. Children at Reflections nursery are exposed to the most wonderful opportunities which ignite their joy of learning and allow them to wonder and marvel at their world developing essential skills and attitudes for their life long learning. A must for any parent or educator to visit.

User

Home-to-home... I could not think of a better place for our daughter to nurture. We hugely appreciate the philosophy, ethos and values.

User

Great nursery that I would highly recommend. Both my boys came here and loved it. All staff are warm welcoming and friendly.

It seems to go from strength to strength and deservedly so.

Thank you reflections for all the happy memories.

User

Attended PD day yesterday - amazing setting. Probably the most inspirational setting I’ve visited outside of Reggio Emilia. In fact your practices are better than some I’ve witnessed out there. Will definitely be over to the next one and will be bringing our MD with us too. Thanks so much for your hospitality!

User

As a mum of two children I would have loved the opportunity to send my child to Reflections. Gorgeous, bright and passionate staff in the most beautiful and inspiring setting.

User

An amazing start in life and total peace of mind for parents to know that everything is taken care of - particularly if you are leaving them full time. A very creative place - helping where they need help, but letting them work it out for themselves too.

Somehow they manage to get a clear structure and routine into each day (which i believe children do need) while also keeping every day completely different - and allowing the children to go off on their own tangents as they need to.

They have helped us mould a wonderful and well rounded individual and she has loved every minute.

User

Amazing nursery! One of the best in the south. Professional staff and the kids love it x

User

Absolutely love working at reflections, great to work for. My daughter also attends here and she absolutely LOVES it. x

User

A very special place where the staff all take time to really get to know your child; their strengths and areas where they need more support, and encourage them to flourish and become more confident and independent. And I really felt they genuinely cared about my son and loved spending time with him, which meant a huge amount. And on top of that, a beautiful and creative setting for children to explore, with a real emphasis on nature and the outdoors. I couldn't rate Reflections, their facilities, or staff, more highly.
