Ehsan is studying towards his second degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. With his passion for quality coffee, he is our Senior Barista at Refresh Health. In his words: β€œCoffee came to my attention when I was living in the south of France. Yes, there’s a little bit of science and an art involved in a good cup of coffee, but everyone deserves more than a decent coffee.’’
Ehsan is also our qualified Massage therapist offering a wide range of treatments from relaxing Swed...ish massage to specific sport injury treatments. He has an extensive background in different sports such as extreme sailing to professional martial arts (JKD). Ehsan is a qualified Level 3 Sports Massage therapist and has a precise understanding of how the body and mind work interchangeably and its interconnectivity.
His interests are: -The journey of health and wellness -Spending quality time with family and friends -Reading books on different subjects -Travelling and discovering new cultures -Wandering in art galleries -Spending time in nature

Refresh Dumbwaiter
This is a great exercise for strengthening the muscles in our shoulders and upper back to counteract the rounded posture so many of us develop from sitting bent over computers and phones all day.
We start by kneeling on the carriage with our knees against the shoulder pads. We hold the loops, one crossed over the other, with our elbows bent to 90 degrees and our palms facing upwards in front of us. We inhale to prepare and engage our core, and on the exhal...e we pull the loops out to the sides to move the carriage.
Keeping our elbows glued to our sides and maintaining a stable core and neutral spine ensures that the movement comes from our rotator cuffs.

Qualifications: Student BSc Physiotherapy Level 3 Sports Massage ... Level 3 Beauty Therapist Level 3 Nail Technician Level 3 Health Care across Practice
I am 22 years old and in my 3rd year studying Physiotherapy at Brighton University. I am a qualified Beauty Therapist with 4 years of experience providing treatment such as facials, Swedish massage, waxing, tinting, threading, and gel manicures and pedicures. I am also qualified in sports massage and have worked as a physio assistant. I plan to become qualified in teaching Pilates in order to combine physiotherapy and Pilates to aid rehab for my clients.
Interests: Reading, music and all things happy and healthy! My initial passion in health and fitness stemmed from Karate which I have been practicing for 15 years.

When people say boxing is a full body workout, they really mean it!
It engages every muscle group in a combination of cardio and resistance training (every muscle group must work to deliver an effective punch!) as well as training your hand-eye coordination, mental focus, and reaction time.
With all of this going on, boxing is never dull -- these two certainly look like they're enjoying themselves! πŸ˜ƒπŸ₯ŠπŸ’ͺ
... So if you're bored of the treadmill, boxing may be for you!

Kneeling Hamstring Stretch
This hamstring stretch is one of our favourites πŸ˜ƒ
We begin kneeling on the reformer, with one foot on the foot bar and the other on the shoulder pad. We place our hands either side of the front foot.
... Then we inhale to prepare and exhale as we extend the front leg to push the carriage out, keeping the hips square, until we feel a stretch in the back of the front leg. We hold here for a few seconds, then slowly return the carriage to the starting position and repeat several times, feeling a deeper stretch with each repetition.
This exercise is a great way to stretch the hamstrings without putting pressure on the lower back and irritating the sciatic nerve. It is also a good multitasker -- while lengthening the hamstrings on one side, it also helps release tight hip flexors on the other side. @ Reading, England

I had such a great experience at Refresh. As a Pilates instructor myself I obviously have a bias towards Pilates, but I’ve never been able to get on with the reformer type before (I teach the mat kind) as it just seemed to over tighten my already tight muscles. With his flex class Babs totally changed my opinion: the perfect combination of both strength and flexibility gave me both a great full body workout and left me feeling fantastic. He really knows his stuff. Highly recommend.

Babs is an excellent instructor and the studio is wonderful. The attention to detail was brilliant and I can't wait to start regular classes now. This is the best Pilates experience I've ever had. Highly recommend.
