Zigger zig ahhhh ⚡️ Beginners zig zagging the edges of their pieces to stop them fraying during wear. This is a great trick if you don’t have your own overlocker/serger, just make sure to do a test on a scrap of your final fabric first. Different fabrics react in different ways. Do your zig zag right on the edge of the fabric, as close as you can. Make sure you’re happy with the effect before you do your final garment pieces.... BUT remember, if you are new to dressmaking, this is a functional stitch and will not be seen by anyone but you when you put them on. Raring to go 👆🏼 This was me last night. All set up and ready for our improver students to arrive. In lesson one we did our measurements, checked our sizing against the pattern sizing and discussed fitting ease. Decided on what size we were going to make taking all of that in to account. Cut out all our pattern pieces. Pinned them to the correct size (so we don’t ruin the pattern for reuse).... Pinned the main ones to our calico and cut them out ready for making up our toile next lesson. Students were amazing, as always, and finished everything at the lesson, which means no homework! Well done gang! Bring on lesson 2! And yes that is my @stojo reusable mug.
