It was a Golden weekend for staff shooters last weekend!!
At the European Grand Prix in Romania, Layla Annison won mixed team GOLD, Adam Ravenscroft, Duncan Busby & Neil Bridgewater won mens team silver, Ella Gibson & Lucy O'Sullivan also won womens team silver. The Junior womens team Qualification World Record was broken by 25 points by the GB team including Layla & Ella.
... There was also the Continental qualifier for the European Games. Adam Ravenscroft - Archery won the quota tournament, securing a spot for Great Britain Łukasz Przybylski for Poland also secured one of the 5 spots on offer!
Across the globe at the 5th Fazza Para World Ranking event, Jodie Grinham won Individual Gold in the womens compound open class and Nathan Macqueen won Mixed team gold!
Not a bad start to the International outdoor season 🥇🥇🥇🥇🥈🥈🥈🥈🥈

European Grand Prix latest!!!
Staff shooters Lucy O'Sullivan, Ella Gibson, Adam Ravenscroft, Duncan Busby & Neil Bridgewater will all shoot for team gold at the European Grand Prix in Bucharest. Great Britain made it through to gold in style in both mens and womens classes.

Last but not least....me! No not as a pro team member but as the creative genius behind Reign Bowstrings and how the company came to be.
I am a 33 year veteran of archery. I started shooting recurve but turned compound at 12 when I struggled to reach competitive distance. My dad taught me from an early age to be independant with my equipment maintenance so when I turned compound, he bought me a compound in kit form for me to build. From that moment found a love for the workin...gs of archery kit and how to get the best out of it.
After failing university abysmally, I got a job in an archery shop, setting up and selling kit. I only planned to work in archery for a short time but my career in the retail business spanned 16 years in total! I guess I became pretty renowned in the industry for setting up and helping archers achieve their dreams so when I decided it was time for a change and left retail in 2013, I got inundated with requests to continue setting up, tuning and making strings for archers.
In May 2013, Reign Bowstrings was created.
Since the start, I've continually strived to make strings more and more efficient, accurate and aesthetically pleasing; evolving manufacturing techniques and testing different materials to get the best out of the bows. Reign supplies strings direct to customers around the World and through 13 dealers. Perfection is an endless pursuit so it would be daft to claim any strings are perfect but 9 World Championship Golds, 7 European Golds, 4 World records, 10 European records, countless National titles, records and personal bests achieved with people using Reign suggests we're pretty damn close.

Our penultimate shooter profile, in her 5th year on the team: Lucy O'Sullivan - Archery.
Jersey girl Lucy has clocked up some air miles over her 19 years in archery, travelling to the mainland and around the globe shooting. She first made the GB team, waaaaay back in 2005 at the Europa Cup in Czech and started her International career with an individual Silver and team Bronze. The following year, at the age of 15, she made her senior debut and picked up team silver at the W...orld Cup leg in El Salvador. She also won Individual Bronze and Team Silver at the World Youth Championships. Over the years, Lucy has racked up a massive amount of other accolades and podiums including European team Silver 2014, National series finals titles in 2009 & 2011, silver in 2013 and bronze in 2010 & 2018 and World Cup Team silver in 2017.
Possibly one of the most notable achievements though was last year when after receiving a crash course in shooting field, jumped right in at the deep end and entered the Pro Series....and Won!
Outside her archery career, Lucy also has a very successful personal training business.

3 archers left and we'll start the week with the Clown Prince of Reign, Carl "The Chad" Richards - Mybo Pro Staff
Chad has been shooting Reign since the very beginning and is now in his 4th year on the pro team.
The 2015 British Target Champion is no stranger to the podium, with 2018 Veronica's Cup team silver, numerous podiums on the National series stages and Finals appearances in 2016 & 2017 under his belt... His laid back nature makes him a tough competitor in pressure situations and in the 2016 Kings of Archery Lucky dog 'Joker Round' he won through on a 140 person nearest the middle shoot out to make the final shoot offs, finishing 6th that year.
We love having Chad on the team, for his performances, product testing and just all round entertainment!

Jacob Caine joins us for his 3rd year on the team.
The fearless 16 year old made his International Debut at the European Indoor Championships in 2017 finishing 4th in the team event and looked set to continue this success outdoors towards the World Championships until the muppet broke his arm! Sadly this put him out of International competition in 2017 but after an agonising wait to pick the bow up again, he showed his skills dominating the field at the AGB Youth festival tha...t year winning the final in style with a 146-144 (thanks to the awesome coach in the finals!). 2018 finally marked his outdoor International debut at the European Youth cup where he finished 9th.
For 2019, Jacob again looks a decent bet for the World Championships in his last cadet year......if we can keep him in one piece!

James Howse joins us again for his 5th year. I first met James when he made his debut for the Great British Cadet team in 2014, he won team Bronze that year at the European Youth Champonships. Young and enthusiastic with bags of potential, he made his big jump to the cadet Worlds Elite in 2015 when medalled in all three events at the World Championships; Team Silver, Individual and Mixed team Bronze. He followed that with Team silver at the 2016 Europeans and 2017, his first ...Junior year, rewarded him his first World Title in the Mixed team in Argentina.
James missed best part of last season to concentrate on his exams but he's back this year and targeting Madrid, his last Youth World Championships. Given his track record at Major Championships, I wouldn't bet against him!

Martyn Cotterill, good friend and one of my original pro staff celebrates his 6th year as part of the Reign team.
Martyn started shooting in 2011, predominantly in the bowhunter class for NFAS and EFAA, he was ever present on the podium at the major events between 2013 & 2015, with 4 EFAA National podiums and a team bronze at the European Bowhunter Championships and 6th Individually.
From 2016, he saw sense and strapped a sight to his bow in a switch to Unlimited class. He co...ntinued his success, with a 3DA Unknown distance win and also winning the 2017 Scottish 3D championships and 2018 SFAA Indoor championships.
In 2018 Martyn turned his hand to target as well to learn new skills and finished the season with a WA720 tournament best of 685. Don't you just hate people like that!!
It's been a pleasure having him on the team since the beginning.

Nathan Macqueen starts his 3rd year as part of the Reign Pro team.
The former Powerlifter started archery in 2014. In 2015, he was selected to join the Great British Squad, 2016 marked his international para debut and in the same year, he became a Paralympian, finishing 9th in Rio. It's fair to say his route to the top was quick, lightning quick ;-)
Last year saw him win team silver at the European Para Championships and finish 12th in the Para World rankings, 11th in the UK ...able rankings (damn you for beating me!) and 1st in the Scottish rankings.
With the World Championships coming up this year and the all important quota spots for Tokyo to gain, Nathan is going to be the one to watch.

There's only one way to start the week, and that's with the delightful and positively crazy ball of energy that is Jodie Grinham GB Archer.
Jodie has been shooting Reign for 4 years now and has been a member of the team for 2 years.
The Paralympic World number 8 is a regular on the podium of World Ranking events but one of her major career highlights came in 2016 when she won silver in the mixed team event at the Rio Paralympic Games.
... Last year, Jodie finished a fantastic season with a 4th and 2 6th place individual finishes at the European Para-Archery cup stage 1 & 2, and the European Para championships respectively. Domestically, Jodie also qualified for the National Tour Finals, finishing 4th and finished 7th in the UK Rankings.

Taking a day off the profiles today I'm afraid after an insane day building strings! Enjoy your weekend guys and gals :-)

Back to the compound team and we'll start by welcoming Ksenia Markitantova in her 3rd year on the team.
Ksenia hails from Ukraine and has been shooting since 2011 and it didn't take long for her to cement her place on the Ukranian Paralympic team with 2 Paralympic games under her belt (London 2012 & Rio 2016).
The latter she qualified for in style, winning the nerve crunching final quota tournament.
... She's been active on the International Para circuit since the start, winning Individual silver and team bronze at the World ranking tournament in 2016 where she won the quota tournament. She is also the 3 time Ukranian National Champion.
Ksenia took last year out of International tournament after having all of her kit stolen and following a move to Poland with her family, she is now free to compete under the Polish flag.
