We were incredibly shocked to learn from Save Face that there are several practitioners still offering cosmetic treatments to patients on a mobile basis despite the stark warnings issued by the government about social distancing.
The Public Announcement from Save Face reads:
"It is with some alarm we note that some irresponsible and unethical practitioners are continuing to offer treatments, some doing so house to house. If you think this is a safe and acceptable service allo...wing you to continue to self-isolate, it is NOT. You are inviting someone into your home who has not been self-isolating and will have been exposing themselves and others to unacceptable risk. Someone who is ignoring government advice and putting their own income above critical social responsibility...... There are no infection control measures that are adequate in these circumstances, so do not be reassured by anything a practitioner says they might be doing, or not doing. Your safety and theirs cannot be assured. We have also been advised that patients are still seeking treatment providers, these are not essential procedures, they can be delayed. Please do not ask any provider to treat you. You must follow government advice and stay at home".

Sadly I have made the decision that In light of the current crisis, and the governmentŌĆÖs guidelines on social distancing, that in order to protect my staff and my patients, we will be closed for the foreseeable future.
We intend to offer a mail order service for our ZO products. We will contact everyone on a treatment course, and who is on BHRT, to discuss how we move forward.

Dr Grant is waking up another year older today! ­¤śē Happy Birthday!!

Dr Grant had a busy morning on Monday this week, with four Elipse Gastric Balloon placements! The Elipse is the first gastric balloon which doesnŌĆÖt require surgery, endoscopy or anaesthetic - the balloon capsule is swallowed by the patient (aided by lots of sparkling water to sip!) and once in the stomach, the balloon is inflated with 550mls if fluid!
The balloon remains in place for up to 4 months, before it self-deflates and is passed naturally through the body!
What does i...t look like inside the stomach? ItŌĆÖs basically a big, clear ball of fluid, and here Dr Grant shows you where the balloon is with one of our patients from Monday, with the air bubble in the top clearly visible within the stomach!

At our CQC registered Clitheroe clinic, Dr Grant McKeating offers the Elipse gastric balloon programme to assist with weight loss. This is the only gastric balloon which can be placed without endoscopy or surgery!
... How does it work? The Elipse gastric balloon comes in a small capsule which is attached to a thin tube. The patient swallows the capsule, and x-ray imaging is used to ensure the balloon is in the correct place in the stomach, before it is inflated with fluid. The thin filling tube is then gently removed leaving the balloon in the stomach. The balloon remains in the stomach for approximately 4 months, before part of the balloon dissolves, empties of fluid and passes naturally through the body.
For the first few days the patient eats liquids and soft foods only and then moves to solid food once s/he feels able and comfortable. The Elipse balloon makes the patient feel fuller, suppressing appetite and therefore s/he eats smaller portions of food. In order to achieve the best possible results patients are supported throughout the treatment programme by a dietitian who will advise on following a healthy, balanced diet, mindful eating and changing food habits. There is also an app which links by Bluetooth to personal "smart" scales which allows you, and the medical team, to monitor progress in real time.
Who is it for? The Elipse Gastric Balloon is suitable for those with a BMI (Body Mass Index) of between 27 and 40, and is designed to kick-start long term weight-loss, and should be used alongside diet and lifestyle changes, such as taking more exercise. Unlike a traditional gastric band, the Elipse does not require risky surgery or anaesthesia ŌĆō and costs half the price! Typical weight loss over the 6 month programme is 2-2.5 stone (10-15Kg).
