We stayed for our anniversary and the room was decorated with balloons and rose petals for our arrival which was lovely.

Our cockapoo loved walkies round the lake and it was fab that he could come in the restaurant whilst we had a meal.

Lovely resort and we can’t wait to visit again.

Stayed at Retallack in the Daymer twin for a week in June.

Huge bedrooms and lots of living space and just perfect with little tots (two year old and one year old in our party) so much to do just within the lodge as there are indoor and outdoor Wendy houses and lots of toys in the property. The lodge and resort alone were enough to keep a very energetic two year old happy.

Great swimming facilities (with a good spa) and excellent play areas and soft play. Lots of ducks visiting multiple times a day to say hello too!

Perfect location to get around Cornwall and to do some sightseeing, beach visits and shopping in places like Padstow.

User

Loved our stay. Beautiful lodge with bonus hot tub. Used the pool and gym most days. Restaurant food was very good. All staff very polite. We loved the rural location but easy access to all attractions. Would definitely book again.

User

If I could I would give this place 10 stars... just arrived home after the most amazing holiday... super friendly and helpful staff, spotless lodges, amazing area, able to join in with all the classes and best of all dogs are allowed everywhere as long as on lead... the best holiday have had in a long long time... retallack we will be back... and flowrider, just wow!!! Thanks so much for the most perfect holiday :-)

I was here for a hen weekend organised by the lovely Leigh who works at Retallack. Everything was so well organised from arrival and relaxing treatments in the Spa thanks to Olivia for a perfect massage and relaxing facial. The pool was fantastic, as it’s not too cold or too hot that you can’t swim in it and I loved the sauna. Towells, dressing gowns and slippers abound in a well facilitated ladies shower and changing room. We all enjoyed a delicuous afternoon tea before heading to our incredible lodge equipped with hot tub. Everything about the weekend was impeccable and I would highly recommend Retallack Resort and Spa to anyone looking for a relaxing or fun weekend away in Cornwall, where you will be well looked after thanks to pristine facilities and an amazing service!

User

Can’t rate highly enough! The venue is really lovely, staff were so helpful/attentive, food was great and the flowrider session was very well run with everyone getting one to one instruction and by the end they were all able to do it on their own. So pleased I chose to come. My 8 year old has now asked if we can go back as he quite fancies the spa ha!

User

Came today for our one year wedding anniversary to use the spa facilities have a treatment and food as one of the spa days they have to offer. Amazing staff all went above and beyond. There was a mistake and wasn’t put in the couples room straight away for treatment but once told them they sorted it so quick you wouldn’t of known! Very professional in way dealt with. Spa therapists did a amazing treatment. Better than we have had before. Even husband said how relaxed he feels after our busy life style with children! Food was amazing sat on the balcony watching the flo rider and everyone was brilliant! We had a amazing time use of swimming pool etc was great! Local so would love to come back and chill also bring our children as we saw you cater well for them to with things in the lounger area

User

Thank~you for a lovely day yesterday. It was a treat for my nieces 21st birthday. We had a spa day with lunch. The girls in the spa were very attentive, and the massage was amazing. A very chilled out day. The only down side I would say is that the showers need some attention, and a jacuzzi would be have finished the day off nicely. Thank you Retallack

User

Overall, great resort. We stayed in an Eden Lodge with hot tub which was worth the extra money. The lodge itself was very well equipped.

Just a few things that would make me think it wasn't 5* though. Washing machine and tumble dryer especially were over complicated and didn't actually dry our clothes. Service in the lounge wasn't great; had to go to the restaurant to be served even though there was a bar in the lounge. Pool (esp toddler pool) was nowhere near big enough considering the size of the resort. Bit of a problem when you can't use it at all when there is a class (aqua aerobics etc.) going on.

I'd say the resort is a great base for visiting places in Cornwall but the resort itself has room for improvement.

User

I have had a wonderful weekend here, the fistral Lodge where we stayed, was very clean and well equipped. The beds were extremely comfortable, it was lovely to be overlooking the lake, with the hot tub, the bad weather couldn’t spoil our stay. The highlight for me was the flow rider, “what awesome fun”, the staff were great, all in all an amazing break for me and my family ages from 2- 60.

User

As a family, we love Retallack - lodges are great and park facilities keep the kids permanently amused.

The only real issue we have is the WiFi, which is beyond rubbish, as it’s slow and continuously drops out - yes, you can upgrade, but in this day and age you shouldn’t have to. It’s also outrageously expensive to upgrade !

If you can live without WiFi, then all set for a great time.

User

We stayed at The Herons, which was a lakeside lodge and was lovely and spacious for our party of 9 adults, 2 children and 3 dogs. We had a private hot tub and heated pool which was fantastic especially for the 2 children. The upkeep of the lodge itself was shoddy, with thistles growing through the fake grass (which I dug up myself incase the children stood on them).

The staff were fantastic and very accommodating, especially at the lookout restaurant where the food was amazing and the staff went above and beyond to fulfil our sometimes fussy orders.

Whilst my review is quiet positive, the resort itself is dated and quite rundown and there isn't a lot to do on site activity wise for smaller children. My daughter is 5 and could only use the play park as she was too small for most activities - although some activities weren't open at all.

Taxis to local areas were virtually impossible to get and the firm that the resort uses were awful. £5 per person charge for a 10 minute journey resulting in us paying over £100 return journey.

I would rate this resort 3* not 5* as a lot of work needs doing to improve.

User

Mixed feelings after my surprise visit this weekend. My husband had booked the short and sweet package for my birthday and then paid for additional water sports packages and extended spa treatments.

Plus points... the fistral apartment was well equipped, clean and bed was comfortable, lovely to wake up and see the lake. The three course meal at the lookout was out of this world, really good food.

Negatives... the spa was very disappointing... I had visited pre renovation and I'm dismayed that you have got rid of that amazing pool and spa area! The pool is really small and noisy... it was packed because it was taster weekend which my husband was not told about on booking. The treatment room was also noisy and the relaxation room was more like a waiting room. The poor design also meant that the ladies changing room was next door and the swimming costume dryer attached to the joining wall... this experience as a whole was not good, we came to relax and left feeling wound up! The renovations in the restaurant are lovely but have turned it more into a cafe look rather than luxurious restaurant.

I really feel the renovations have turned this once peaceful resort that was geared around adults into a much more family park. Overall we wouldn't visit again as a couple seeking a relaxation weekend but we will do a day visit to take part in the water sports with our children.

User

Just got back from two weeks here. We had one apartment and 4 bedroom Padstow house. It's a bit of a mixed review as first impressions were not great. The house we checked into had a for sale sign outside and the decking was broken, falling apart and rotten. All of it including the house needed a good lick of paint and some TLC, the site itself needed some upgrading. The layout of the site isn't great, very overlooked from all aspects and felt on top of each other, especially when we had a for sale sign outside everyone kept having a look in. Not suitable for people who aren't good on their feet, very steep hills to get to places. Not much for under 6 years of age. The swimming pool isn't that big for the number of guests on site. The apartments are noisy and next to the aqua park and not very private on the balcony.

Positives the house was lovely and clean, well equipped with everything we needed. Location was great and not far from main attractions. The waterpark was good but once they had been on it a couple of times they were a bit bored. Overall we enjoyed it and used it as a base but we would not go back for the money we paid this is not 5 star place more 3/4 which is as shame.

User

I would not class this as a 5* resort.

It is overpriced when you consider everything is at an extra cost including fresh linen!

Accommodation is good but far from 5*.

On arrival we had to pay £250 which would be repaid 8 - 10 days after we left. This is so they can take money for damage or anything they choose to bill you.

Changing rooms at the resorts lake activities were shocking with dirty floors and condensation.

We left the resort most days and was a good location for Padstow, Newquay etc.

Overall good location with an average restaurant/bar and accommodation. Will not be returning as there are other locations with more to offer, better choices and a lot cheaper!

User

We stayed in an open plan lakeside apartment which was ok, part of the deal included prosecco on arrival, or should have! On the way up to the spa I informed the receptionist, he said there will be a bottle in the fridge by the time you get back. There wasn't, waited a couple of hours, still hadn't turned up, called reception on my mobile because the landline in the room wasn't working, he said you'll have to wait until after 8pm or come up to reception and get it yourself.

At 7pm we pulled out the sofa bed for my son to sleep on, there was a mattress protector covered in dust and pubic hair, and we also realised there was no bedding. My wife went back to reception to explain that we needed bedding asap for our 2 year old and he said yes of course. At 21.15 two security guards turned up with a bag which had everything we needed, except a quilt cover.

The next morning on our way out we saw a cleaner with bags of fresh bedding, we asked if she could drop a quilt cover in when she had a chance, yea no problem, arrived home in the evening, no quilt cover.

Also on the first morning we opened the fridge to find everything all but frozen as somebody had left the fridge turned all the way up.

The "Satellite Tv" which according to the website gives you sky news/sport/movies was unavailable. So just channel 1-5 to keep the boy entertained whilst we were getting ready!

When checking out we expected to be asked how our stay was, which did not happen, so we decided to tell the receptionist about the bedding issue, her reply, "oh".

It's a shame that such a nice, fairly pricey resort can have such little care or regard for the guests. Suffice to say, we won't be spending our hard earned money there again!

User

We are here for a week, only on day 1 and our experience thus far is terrible. Arrived at 2pm after travelling 4.5 hour, check in wasn't until 4pm - fair enough, but there just isn't anything for small children to do here so we had a screaming baby for most of that time. We were allocated our lodge which was filthy ... literally disgusting, the stair gate was broken and the kick board in the kitchen was not in place revealing sharp edges. They apparently cleaned it again... but there were still pubes everywhere- wonderful. We seem to hace one of the only lodges with a steep gravel drive... it seems just idiotic that they would allocate a family with a small child who is barely walking so they need to carry the child down the drive or use a pram in a lodge with a steep slippery gravel drive when there are definitely parties of adults who could manage much better. So, we are pretty much trapped in unless we want to take the car out... it may sound dramatic but it's just stupidity. We are on our first family holiday, which wasn't cheap for what it is especially if you include the £250 deposit that it says in the leaflet they don't refund until 10 days after your departure (the actual cheek of it!!). I doubt we will stay around here much, and definitely won't return. The manager in reception was probably the most helpful but still said and I quote 'I haven't worked here long so don't really know the lodges.... well go for a walk and have a look then love!!!!! As you can tell I'm pretty disappointed to be honest. Not even close to 5* more like 2*.

User

Last session of the day on the inflatables, and quite a few were airless, which made it difficult to get up for everybody, which was a real disappointment. You could tell it getting to the end of the season, some inflatables were green inbetween, and the place is looking a little scruffy. Lots of staff just standing around chatting. Won't rush back, and would pre- warn others before they go. Not as it looks on the website. One positive was the very hot showers afterwards, shame the changing rooms were such a tip and dirty.

User

T&c aside if your children freak out because they find the wetsuits disgustingly difficult to put on and no help offered. Tried to get refund or a credit note as they were too upset to go but No go. Customer satisfaction not high on the list. As a local could not recommend this resort. Disappointed

Taxis to local areas were virtually impossible to get and the firm that the resort uses were awful. £5 per person charge for a 10 minute journey resulting in us paying over £100 return journey.

I would rate this resort 3* not 5* as a lot of work needs doing to improve.

T&c aside if your children freak out because they find the wetsuits disgustingly difficult to put on and no help offered. Tried to get refund or a credit note as they were too upset to go but No go. Customer satisfaction not high on the list. As a local could not recommend this resort. Disappointed
