About Ribble Therapy

Here at Ribble Therapy we specialise in helping people to move and feel better in a relaxed atmosphere. We believe no one should stop living the life they want due to pain brought on by everyday activities.

Ribble Therapy Description

You don’t need to be an athlete to benefit from sports massage and sports therapy.

The techniques originate from training and rehabilitating athletes, having been developed extensively on top sports people over the years, and are clearly beneficial to anyone involved in sports and wanting to look after and get the most from their body, but they are just as effective for -

- Aches and pain developing from long periods at desks or driving.

- Repetitive strain injuries.

- Strains, sprains and other injuries, no matter how you got them, for example - whiplash, falls, lifting etc. . .

We also offer relaxation massage

Today is all about Sternocleidomastoid muscle other wise known as SCM.
This muscle can feel really tight and cause headaches and pain elsewhere around the neck and shoulders.
You probably don’t even know it’s sore until you start to massage it.
... If you’ve been working on computers and phones for long periods of time then you will notice the difference after this.
Feel free to share with people who you know may need this.

Today I have a little video to help with hips prior to a workout or run.
You wouldn’t think it would be hard to film these however I’ve had to edit a little as Charlie walked through the door in the middle of filming 😮
Hips should feel loose and ready to move after this, I know I did.

Today is self care for your FOREARMS.
We are spending lots of time on our computers/laptops/phones and the muscles of the forearms can feel tired and fatigued.
Spend just a few minutes each day doing this self care massage to keep your arms relaxed and ready for more.

Today is all about your HIPS.
Because most of us are working from home at the moment and sitting down more our hips can start to feel tight.
Tight hips can lead to pain and discomfort and you may experience this in the lower back or groin area.
... Here some are stretches to help you loosen the muscles around your hips and give some relief to any discomfort you may be feeling.
Hold each stretch for 30 seconds and remember to do both sides.
I’ll be posting another video with variations and also mobility moves to help loosen the hips.

Drink more WATER to be healthier and better looking
You have probably heard that our bodies are around 60% water, and that it is absolutely essential to our survival.
Having enough water in our body increases energy production and helps maximise physical performance. It’s essential for our kidneys and other bodily functions.
... Drinking plenty of water also helps prevent and relieve headaches. Dehydrated muscles cause pain! Massage therapists see this all the time, and I often recommend to my clients that they drink 8 glasses a day which helps immensely. So many headaches are caused by simple muscle dehydration.
Water helps our mental state as well. A fluid loss of even just 1% or 2% can reduce motivation, increase fatigue, and impair mood, memory and concentration. So if you want to feel brighter and more focussed, water may help with that.
And, if you still need more reasons, research shows that a higher water intake may help prevent hangovers, boost the immune system, improve skin complexion and aid weight loss.
So basically, it helps you stay healthy and it makes you better looking!
And best of all, water is available FREE and plentiful. Even if you choose bottled water it’s still cheaper than sugary or caffeinated alternatives.
One thing I sometimes get asked is, does coffee count? Or beer? After all, these are both made by using water. But unfortunately caffeine and alcohol are both diuretics, meaning they make you lose more water than they put in and may actually make dehydration worse.
So make water your drink of choice, and you will look and feel even better.
