What a meal, superb atmosphere food was amazing and the staff were outstanding. The Atlantic prawns were a real highlight for me, thanks for a top night. That's another one to chalk off the bucket list.

User

We were lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny day, so a glass of fizz on the roof terrace first was great. Service was excellent throughout, all 3 courses for both of us were stunning. Hard to believe it’s been going since 1975 (when tastes were perhaps a bit different) and still produces such wonderful, interesting and enjoyable food.

We went to celebrate Simon's b'day. With a 3 year old you never know what may crop up. Yet everything was superb even her chicken burger (not a fan of sea food yet). We will be coming back definitely. Next time we will think of book the hotel too as driving back home (2hour) car trip was a bit too much sitting for us and we wish to have time to go and explore local landscapes a bit. Thanks Rick.!

User

We had a delicious meal in amazing surroundings. The staff were very friendly and knew their stuff. Contrary to popular belief dining here won’t break the bank. If you are anywhere near Padstow coming here is a must. Cannot understand some of the bad reviews. This place is a gem in a beautiful town. We will be back.

User

We came here on the last day of our holiday and it was the best part of a wonderful week. The food was incredible. We've eaten in a lot of celebrity chefs restaurants and michelin star restaurants and the food here was probably the best we have had. Fresh and utterly delicious.

The staff were also fantastic; couldn't do enough for us and very polite and friendly.

A beautiful place to eat if you're in the area. We will definitely be visiting again!

Thank you all at the seafood restaurant!

This was our third visit to Rick’s restaurant and it was as good as our first visit. The first two visits it was just my wife and myself but this time we invited our friends to come as well. They loved it to.

User

There were six of us all having different starters mains and puddings every dish was excellent and could not be faulted

The staff were outstanding and very friendly

As we all said you get what you pay for

User

I visited your restaurant Saturday evening on the 26 th may. The service was outstanding. The waiters and waitresses were very warm and welcoming!

I had your mussels for starters and the sea bass cooked with masala;baked in a banana leaf for my main! They both were outstandingly delicious! I finished with your raspberry Creme Brûlée! Gosh! Heaven!!

At the end of the evening there was a struggled to get us a taxi back to our accommodation (probably because of the rain and thunderstorm) but one of your wonderful staff members dropped us off safely home! A huge Thankyou for helping us to make beautiful memories! I Look forward to visiting you again soon!

User

I first came here 25 years ago and whilst the Stein empire has grown this place still retains the key ingredients, great staff, amazing food and fantastic wines. This time I had the Indonesian fish curry, OMG the flavours were spectacular just delicious.

User

Dined here as a surprise last night 13/04/18 for my birthday. What a treat, everything from the moment we arrived was superb. Had

fabulous Oysters, delicious Scallops, a whole variety of fish. The desert were super and the staff attentive and friendly. We can't recommend the experience enough.

User

Been coming here now for the last 4/5 years on our annual fishing trip. Food is always amazing and so is the service. We have had Megan waitressing tonight who has been absolutely outstanding funny down to earth and worth her weight in gold. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff certainly know the menu. If you have a question about anything on the menu the staff know the answers. Well worth a visit. A view also shared by my old man. Ps sorry if we made a mess of the table cloths. See you next June

User

Amazing .....staff couldn't do enough ....we were a table of 9 adults and 3 children for a 50th birthday .....food was stunning ....wine excellent ..service outstanding ...a calm relaxed atmosphere ...can't recommend enough ..thank you all at Rick Stein for making a special birthday get together a great success

User

Absolutely amazing food! Even if you don't like seafood, this place WILL convert you into a fish eater.

Why has this place not got a Michelin Star yet?

User

Great food, wine and atmosphere BUT, too much repetitive interruption throughout the evening but staff who seems under pressure to engage at every opportunity. Key sign was not been to a restaurant for a very long time that had 3 (yes Three) drops of cutlery and or crockery during our stay. Not the ambiance I think Rick intended.

User

Food was very good except the lamb was somewhat chewy, I guess that’s what you get if you don’t order the seafood. Table was cramped, obviously they are trying to squeeze in as many people as possible.

User

The service was very good and attentive however during our trip around Devon and Cornwall we both agreed we have had better food in other seafood restaurants in particular “On The Rocks” in Torquay where we had an outstanding meal. Highly recommend going there if you are in that area

User

The food was lovely, however the staff made it clear that we were on a time line, we were on an early sitting and had to be out by 9pm. We felt rushed between courses with glasses being whipped away before they were finished. Then when the waiter delivered our coffee and petit fours, he stood and glared at my husband as he was in mid sentence, to indicate he wanted our attention to tell us about the flavours of the petit fours, it was like he was working from a script. It was a bit disappointing!

User

Disappointed, however they do have an excellent wine list and fantastic deserts. Starters looked good but the shell fish was gritty and the lobster salad was disappointing. Main courses were both ridiculously over seasoned however the potatoes were excellent! The service was slow. The worst £200 meal I’ve had this year. We were in Copenhagen, Seville and Verona last month and had far better fish in 4 different restaurants for the same money!! Needs to up its game for the prices charged. 3 star food at 5 star prices.

We have dined for the last night of our holiday with you tonight and I’m afraid all I can say is we were underwhelmed... we are very sad to say this having looked forward immensely to our visit. Your receptionist was scruffy to say the least, with her cardigan hanging off her shoulders and her hair looking like it hadn’t been brushed for a week. We ordered a bottle of still water for the table but was served a jug of tap water... when the bottle arrived and we told the waitress we had ordered a bottle she said “oh well” and promptly took the bottle away without asking if we would prefer it as we’d ordered it. Our table was next to a waiters station where my husband spent most of the evening being bumped into or having to ignore the bottom of the waiter or waitress who was working there not to mention the volume of conversation had by the staff when 4 of them were crowded there at once, causing us to pause in our conversation. My moules were sadly gritty and the the sauce was the bland taste of warm cream... my lobster Thermidor which I particularly looked forward to also bland. Our 11 year old also had lobster which was over cooked and chewy as well as a small bowl of chips, half of which were undercooked and he left. I have to be honest I had better chips from the chip shop in St Columb Major last night. The wine was excellent and both my husband and son enjoyed the deserts they had but that is I’m afraid where it ends. When we settled the bill the waitress made her feelings quite clear with a disgusted grunt and huff that we did not add a tip but I’m afraid it was not earnt. I am sure you are asking why we did not bring any of this to the attention of your staff at the time, the simple answer is that it was the last night of a lovely holiday which I wanted to enjoy with my family, I did not want any fuss. I’m sorry to say I doubt we would come back.
