New to our menu for summer, queenie scallops cooked on a plancha served with beurre noisette. Pretty as a picture on the plate and super tasty too. View our sample menu here: goo.gl/kCRMoR

Scallops are one of the most versatile shellfish that the sea has to offer. Whether you prefer them pan-fried, roasted, grilled, poached or as a ceviche, watch as Jack Stein shows you how to prep and cook them here...

Eating more shellfish is a great choice for a healthy diet. As well as it being low in fat and high in protein (there’s more protein in scallops and shrimps than beef or chicken), shellfish is a source of B-vitamins and vitamin which aren’t always found in other food. Which is your favourite to eat?

If you love classic Asian flavours you must try cooking our recipe of the month, hake laksa. It comes from Rick’s Coast to Coast book and pairs a beautiful fillet of hake with a spiced coconut laksa and noodles. Get the recipe here: https://goo.gl/yd6nLc

The action at Wimbledon kicked off today, so it would be rude to not celebrate with a Pimms. Cheers.

What an amazing surprise. The place is awesome! The food the BEST. The staff so good and professional including the the manager, so, so kind. I strongly recomend it. Food, place, the nicest people, will make it a unique and scrumptious experience!

User

We were re-seated at our request so that our ex-rower son and his wife could sit by the river opposite his old Boat Club. He lives in New Zealand now so the kindness of the manager, to reorganise the seating, was so very kind and much appreciated. We had a very memorable evening with exquisite food! We definitely will return. Thank you team Stein!

User

We went for one of the charity lunches which was amazing value. Didn’t get a window seat but that really didn’t matter as the main room is lovely. All the staff were very friendly and attentive which really added to our enjoyment. Excellent choice of wine available by the glass.

User

We travelled almost 4 hours on Sunday from Yorkshire and was just passing when we saw your restaurant. What a treat it was. Your staff were wonderful, a young lady from Hungry served us and she really helpful with the menu and so lovely too. The food was beautiful, we had the crab linguine, oysters, fish and chips and the large (messy) crab haha. We would definitely love to return in the future

User

Visited with four girlfriends to belatedly celebrate three of us who had had birthdays recently. We were lucky to get a window table which can't be guaranteed and everything from there went up hill! Our waitress, Alexandra K, was attentive, efficient and a delight. One of our party had the Indonesian Seafood Curry which she rated the best she had ever tasted. All of us enjoyed our lunch and I look forward to a return visit soon.

User

Such succulent seafood, great setting alongside the River Thames, service was exceptionally understated. I felt comfortable that the staff were doing everything for my two daughters that could not eat raw egg. As it was my birthday treat from my three daughters, it was perfect! Can not recommend it any higher.

User

Spot on! Baked crab followed by the Indonesian fish curry gets top marks from me! My fellow diner had oysters with spicy sausages for starters and the John Dory italiano, again 10/10. And the staff were great too. Highly recommended.

User

Mr Stein certainly has it cracked. Last night we thought we would pop into the restaurant for an early evening cocktail taking advantage of the very generous Happy Hour deal. Two cocktails, two bottles of wine and two hours later we headed out into the night! And in the meantime we had had oysters (wonderful) and two exquisite fish dishes. What an evening and all the better because it was totally unplanned. The staff were wonderful too, attentive, communicative and friendly. I can see us going back there very soon!!

User

Lovely evening. Lovely food. Very friendly & efficient staff. We were made to feel very welcome. Sat in the courtyard terrace (as we took our dog, who was made as welcome as us)! Thumbs up Rick. Worth the 90 minute drive.

User

It was an amazing experience . The seafood curry was delicious , full of flavour and with a good chilli kick . Probably the best seafood curry I have ever had . The staff were friendly and attentive and to top it all we were given a lovely window table . A brilliant evening to celebrate my birthday !

User

Impeccable service. The wine list is unique and fully compliments the vast array of seafood on the menu. Too much to choose from. Can’t wait to go back 😀

User

Had the most amazing meal the staff at this restaurant made us so welcome nothing was to much trouble for them and they were the happiest bunch of waiters I've experienced in all my time eating out in restaurants we so enjoyed everything about this experience and I can't wait to return thanks to you all

User

Firstly the staff were just great. The place was chock a block with young families, and unasked the maitre d moved us from the small reserved table for 2 next to a bawling toddler, to a circular table for 4, with our 2 places set side by side viewing the river. A very good glass of champagne, rich and rounded, to start, then a bottle of Galician Treixadura to accompany our seafood starters. My platter was a delight, the array of weaponry laid before me to assault the heavily laden tray of seafood suggested I would be battling for my meal, but it was a joy, easy to handle and even easier to slip down one’s throat. My main of John Dory Italiano with capers and anchovies (one of my favourite combinations) was superb. And my dining partner’s turbot went down just as well. A bottle of Mersault was not cheap, but it was fabulously opulent, and lasted us through the shared cheese plate to finish. Three top quality cheeses as diverse as you could get from cow’s milk. An excellent lunch.

User

Fantastic food and fantastic staff. We had a great time here. The cod & chips was the best I’ve ever had. The Indonesian fish curry was really lovely my friend said. Will definitely visit here again when in London.

User

Been her many times when it was The Depot. Food now as Steins is incomparable. It was all so delicious. The staff were unassuming, efficient and polite without being obsequious. Half price cocktails early eve was an unexpected treat but the views over the river were as good as the food. Definitely a firm favourite now.

User

The food was lovely , we asked for no sauces in our food and it wasn’t a problem , but the service wasn’t brilliant , waited ages for butter , drinks and I asked for no liptree tonic the first drink was Schweppes slimline which was great , napkin went in the floor and they took it away I thought they would replace it but didn’t . Service v slow and restaurant not totally full . Would be nice to hVe some 2 seater tables where u can view the river

User

A relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. Food was excellent, we had Turbot and the Indonesian curry. I’ve only dropped one star in comparison to the Seafood restaurant in Padstow which is, in my opinion, better. However if you do not fancy the long trip to Cornwall this is a fantastic way to sample great sea food cooked superbly.

User

Not as good as I had hoped. Booked this for my birthday. The service was ok. Asked specifically for the appetisers to be brought out before starters but it all came together so my scallops starter was cold before I got to them. The Scollops were tiny, tough and not cooked well at all. The turbot was ok but nothing special. Best thing about this restaurant was the cocktails. Overall pretty disappointing experience. I’m a huge fan of Rick Stein and was super excited when he opened a restaurant in my area but I fear I won’t be going back in a hurry and especially not for a special occasion like a birthday treat.

User

Incredibly underwhelming. Service was so slow. Took two hours to have entree and main. Food was lacklustre - salty and poor presentation. Had high hopes for this reataurant as am a huge Rick Stein fan - am very disappointed.
