On Friday, Year 1 visited Gateshead to take part in the mini sing. As well as singing amazingly we also got to spend time in the Baltic, Sage and at the Quayside Seaside. It was a fantastic day! Part 2

Hello parents - it would be much appreciated if you could complete the parent survey sent out last week. Your child should have brought home a letter containing the web address to access the survey. Year 6 have had another fantastic day at the beach for our surfing lesson. The beautiful weather made it even better this week!

Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) Sports Day – Friday 5th July, 2019
The gates will open at 1.30pm and we would ask parents/carers to assemble on the field for a 1.45pm start. Eight stations will be set up on the field. The children will rotate around each station giving you the opportunity to move around with your child. There will be a member of staff on the field prior to the event to inform you of your child’s starting point. The children will be in teams according to their col...oured houses.
Please could you make sure children have their PE kits in school on this day, including suitable footwear. We also advise you to put sunscreen on your child prior to coming to school and provide a cap or sun hat if it is a hot day.
After the event, there will be the opportunity to have a refreshment and snack with your child. We will also present certificates and medals to all children.
If the weather is wet, we may need to postpone to a new date. We will keep you informed of any changes.

These are signs for words we all use on a daily basis, so it would be great to be using these signs with them too, and the signs are really obvious ones that you're probably using naturally anyway (which is fab).

Our science leaders are looking for donations of the following to support the curriculum next year - - empty bottles - catalogues - newspapers - magazines... - old shirts - milk bottles - unwanted socks - dolls - food labels - empty ice cream tubs - denim items - bottle tops

Early Years (Nursery and Reception) Sports Day – Wednesday 3rd July, 2019
Children will come into school as normal in the morning/afternoon for their normal nursery/reception day. Six stations will be set up on the field. The children will rotate around each station giving you the opportunity to move around with your child. There will be a member of staff on the field prior to the event to inform you of your child’s starting point.
Please could you make sure children come to... school wearing sport clothing e.g. leggings and a t-shirt or jogging bottoms, and suitable foot wear. We also advise you to put sunscreen on your child prior to coming to school and provide a cap or sun hat if it is a hot day. Please note staff are unable to apply sun cream.
Event Times • Wednesday 3rd July at 9:30am (gates open at 9:15am)- Miss Hutchinson’s Class, Mrs Harrison’s Yellow Group, Miss Johnson’s Red Morning Group and Miss Cusworth’s Green Group.
• Wednesday 3rd July at 1:30pm (gates open at 1:15pm)- Miss Gibson’s Class, Miss Sweeting’s Yellow Group, Miss Johnson’s Red Afternoon Group and Miss Cusworth’s Green Group.
Note- Miss Cusworth’s parents/carers may attend any of the sessions.

Ridgeway's art council visited the Sage, Baltic and Live Theatre to explore different arts and to get ideas we can bring back to the school. There was a sound workshop at the Sage, a photography workshop at the Baltic and a creative writing workshop at Live Tales.
The children had a great time and did themselves proud with their efforts and enthusiasm!

Yesterday, Y6 experienced their first surfing session. We had a try at finding our balance, paddling and standing up on the board. We had some competitive races and had so much fun making a surf board raft. Some of us had a chance to go rock-pooling and found some fantastic creatures. We can't wait to go again next Thursday!
