About Ridley Atrium

Exciting new boardroom and social space open to all Newcastle University staff and Faculty of Medical Sciences Post Graduate students, from September 2015.

Ridley Atrium Description

The Ridley Atrium in the Faculty of Medical Sciences is an exciting new development which will open for use from September 2015. It will contain a new boardroom for thirty people as well as a 70 seat ‘social space’ which will be accessible via smart card to all University staff and Faculty of Medical Sciences Post Graduate Students. Located just behind the main entrance of the Medical School, the social space has been developed to encourage informal, collaborative networking and will also offer the opportunity to socialise and relax with colleagues. The social space will be accessible to users 24 hours a day and some recent images of the build are included in the photograph section below.

The social space will offer a range of lounge and café style seating in a variety of styles and finishes. Hard copy reading material will also be available as will areas in which to plug personal devices. Catering options for the social space will include:

• freshly prepared snacks and drinks from a staffed coffee cart (opening times TBC)
• opportunities to pre-order food from Dental Bites
• a range of services from vending machines supplied by Ringtons.

Outside of the ‘core times’ of the social space it may be possible to hold small group meetings, drop in sessions or to host some staff socials. The Faculty of Medical Sciences is currently considering the most appropriate way to log /book in these sessions. Your feedback about the type of activities you would like to see taking place in the social space would be appreciated. Please spare a few minutes to leave a comment and let us know your thoughts. Thank you.
