Rifle Volunteers

Polly & Alex have asked me to let anyone who would have been partaking in the quiz league tonight that it has been cancelled due to the weather.

Well the time is near for Gina & I for calling “last orders at the bar please” here at ’The Rifle Volunteers‘ for the very last time. We have had 3 fantastic years at this wonderful little pub and we have achieved more than we could of ever have imagined.
Thanks to everyone for your custom and support and hope to see you over the next few days.

Visited for the first time yesterday. A real time warp with geat atmosphere and excellent beers. We will be back!

This is what you called a proper pub. It has the concept similar to the micropubs so no sky sports, jukebox, games machines etc. The pub looks and feels like very traditional values and it's absolutely fantastic. Goachers Brewery own this so always four ales from them Inc Gold Star, Mild and Stout at very reasonable prices. Very local feel here and always very welcoming. This has to be my favourite place in the area and I am not from Maidstone. Well done Gina and Matt.

This and the Flowerpot are the best Ale Pubs in Maidstone, Lovely Landlady & Landlord, excellent!

Real pub - 'Like what I used to go for when first started drinkin''. Friendly, easy atmosphere with real beer, the best in Kent being Goachers, Don't miss out the Gold Star it's wonderful ! Credit to Matt and Gina.

Perfect pub for those who like good ale.

No jukebox. No tv. No games machines. Complete strangers talking to each other! No Hipsters. Great Ales.

New management, same great service, same great traditional bar, same great beer, same reasonable prices, great tasting simple food, great friendly clientele.

Great "proper pub" the beer and welcome were spot on, only wish we could get there more often.

Gina and I have been tenants here for 2 months and would like to thank everyone for their support, we did not anticipate how busy we have been and look forward to building on this and making the Rifle the best traditional pub in Maidstone.

Easily the best beer in Maidstone. The only problem is picking which one to drink as they're all excellent.

Brilliant hosts, tasty ales, chunky cheese rolls and pleasant conversation - no need for ought else.
