About Ring O Bells Compton Martin

Friends and locals, Miles & Luca, Matt & Fiona recently took over the pub from Butcombe this year and have restored it to all it's original glory. With a revamped menu and guest ales, they hope to make the pub the heart of the village once more.

Ring O Bells Compton Martin Description

We are a traditional country pub, located in the beautiful Chew Valley. We offer locally sourced, great home-cooked food, guest ales, carefully chosen wines, and log fires in each room. In fact, after restoring the fireplace in the Ubley Bar, we can now confirm that it IS the biggest inglenook fireplace in the Chew Valley!

We will always offer a friendly and welcoming atmosphere that will make you want to return time after time.

We also have 2 bedrooms, a great play area for children and bring your dogs too, they'll even be offered a biscuit!

Watch out for our live music events amongst other things, we have lots planned and a few original ideas up our sleeves that we can't wait to share.

Gaz Coombes is one of the UK’s most revered songwriters and an artist that not only helped shape the 90’s music scene, but went on to have huge success globally with his band of merry men Supergrass. Their platinum selling albums and incredible live shows showed their alternative rock/blues roots. But they knew how to write a big pop tune too. In fact the hits just kept coming. ‘Alright, Pumping On Your Stereo, Sun Hits The Sky, Richard III, Moving are just a few that still ...sound exciting today. In 2010 Gaz Coombes went alone and recorded some of his most interesting, original and creative work ever. From his debut solo album ‘Here Come the Bombs’ to his latest album ‘Worlds Strongest Man’ he manages to intertwine hooks and melodies with big arrangements and rhythms that thrill his audiences around the world. So, drum roll please. Ladies and gentlemen.....This years Cider and Cheese headline show brought to you by the Ring O’ Bells is the incredible Mr Gaz Coombes.

Still snowing, if you are venturing out today and coming to see us please be careful as very slippy #slippy #snow

User

The snow is getting deeper by the second, but there is nothing like going for a nice winter walk and ending up in front of the pub fire. We don’t get snow days, so come join us.

With only 48hrs to go until the 6 Nations starts, we have managed to get Owen Farrell our England captain to sign an official England rugby ball to give away to one lucky customer at the end of the tournament. It’s very easy to enter and all our customers are welcome to join in. You simply ask for a raffle ticket for every drink you purchase during any of the games. We shall be showing all of them. More drinks you purchase the more raffle tickets you receive and the more chances of being picked out of the raffle end of the last game. Good Luck everyone, Jacqui & Stewart

The 6 Nations start soon at the Ring O Bells, are you ready? #6nations #2019

It's not too late to join us for Burns night tonight. Call the pub (01761 221284) to reserve your place for haggis, poetry and of course the piper!

User

Come and join us for a wee Highland fling tomorrow evening. Whether you would like to book a table for our Burns Night Supper or simply come and have a wee dram or your favourite tipple at the bar, everyone is welcome. Here's a little taste of our wonderful pipers from last year. Plus, BAFTA award-winning wildlife cameraman, Doug Allen (who also happens to be one of our resident Scots in the village) will be reciting the 'Address to a Haggis'

Dry Jan? the pub is still here with plenty to sate your thirst!!

We went to the Ring O Bells for the firework display this year and had an amazing night. We had just happened to be staying in the area so decided, last minute, to go along. We are so glad we did. The fireworks were amazing, the atmosphere was lovely, the band were great and the bar staff coped with a full-on night really well. We also met some lovely people there who helped to make it a truly memorable night. Great fun! We will definitely be going back.

User

We attended Ring O Bells for the Cheese and Cider festival and 'The Feeling' concert later that evening. This place is in the middle of no where, but hey, well worth the trip. Everyone was so friendly. The event was very well organised with great food and better drink. Top marks for putting this event on and even more marks for hosting 'The Feeling'.

User

Warm welcome, great roast, a gem of a local pub ! Looking forward to attending their Famous cider and cheese fair later this year! 👌🏼

User

Tasty local food and a wine list that’s simply unique... Always happy to do the extra mile to enjoy the place, the friendly service and warm and family atmosphere.

User

Staff were friendly, beautiful place, food delicious and the gardens are really pretty and set in beautiful surroundings.

Spot on steak burger in a cool old building. Cheers Matt and crew from Down Under

Rocked up at the Ring o Bells last night, great big group of us at late notice. Had a great time as always. Food was amazing. Thanks to all the team for looking after us. Big love to our local. x

User

Phoned in advance and spoke to a lovely lady on the phone called Jane. Asked if we could stay the night in the car park in our camper and she was very obliging. Beer was fantastic ( Hair of the Dog ) served by the very cheerful Mike. Food was great. Atmosphere sat by the fire was warm, welcoming and laid back. We enjoyed it so much that we plan to return regularly whenever we can ditch the kids. It's a great place, exactly what we like and only a short drive away. So why travel further?

User

Fab pub with lots of character. Room was lovely. Staff and food are spot on also.

Before 😏We went in.

& After😃😜👍we went in. We had a lovely evening on a Monday, the staff were friendly & the burgers were gert lush, thank you! Had a nice 'Cheeky' pint too! 🍺🍻

User

A lovely cosy pub with a great beer garden and super views! The staff were friendly, helpful, informative and attentive and the food was superb, of restaurant standard and far superior to the usual 'pub grub'! I will definitely be visiting again to sample more of the delights on the menu and would thoroughly recommend it to others! The great background music was an added bonus!

We visited the Ring O Bells for Lunch, a small family get together..But, they also had a Wedding Reception due at the same time, which was a undortunate..This did not in anyway ruffle the staff, or the kitchen..Service was of quality, and extreme courtesy, even with the addition of the Weddding party...Their was the additional touch, of individual care of food, plus kiddies knike fork and spoon, for our Great Granddaughter...

User

Thank you Ring O Bells for such an amazing evening - Great food and good value. Nice atmosphere and Lottie (family dog) welcomed too - we will definitely make sure we come back.

User

Possibly the best pub in the valley. However visited lunchtime on 2nd March one of coldest days of the year. Not very welcoming. No fires lit food sent back as undercooked and cold. Not good do the improvements but never forget the basics of being a good host.

I live locally ( 2 miles away ) and have just had fish and chips with my wife ... the chips and fish came out dark and overdone and the chips ( also very dark ) were absolutely disgusting - I think this was probably due to the oil being old and tarnished ....

I was saying to my wife before the food came “ we should come here every week on my day off and do this “ .....

It’s great for a pint and a snack but I definitely won’t be back for the food !

We used to visit this pub regularly - but it’s been under new management so many times and each time we come back we are greatly disappointed - such a shame .....

Bar staff were really polite and we felt very welcomed however .....

I don’t usually complain but I’m sitting here with a stomach ache thinking why the hell did I just waste my money on that !

Hoping for log fires and good food. Unfortunately it failed on both counts. No log fires no warmth at all not even the radiators on. My food was very poor a ploughman's lunch. Which we waited about 35 minutes for and we were only 1 of two couples there ordering at the time, no apologies for the delay, then when it arrived 2 slices of dry white sliced bread and a small lump of very hard butter some dry cheese a large cold scotch egg containing a cold soft boiled egg which the yolk was congealed and some hot ham hock which was probably the reason for the delay. Altogether a very disappointing lunch.

User

Food and drinks seriously overpriced

Some staff behind the bar were lovely the rest could do with a lot better customer service.

Only recently moved to the area this is our local pub but wouldn't rush back.

User

I took my 3 boys to the firework display on the 4/11/17 and found myself £57 lighter!! 2 burgers and 2 (so called)soups came to £18 !! Very disappointed in the fact that it’s a local village pub in the middle of nowhere,so you had no choice but to pay! All I can say is the organisers must have made a killing ☹️☹️☹️
