#RGWeek18 If you're placing a bet and you begin to feel upset or annoyed it's time to rein it in
Don't forget this tomorrow!
What a fabulous day!! Blues Brothers were amazing and the staff friendly (well most of them!) The shuttle bus was an added bonus and driver very helpful. Best toilet facilities I've seen in ages! Well worth a visit will def go again x
We love to go racing at Ripon as a family. It started out just me and my husband, then my sister joined us and now there are regularly 8 or 9 of us. We love to take a picnic and sit on the hill. Yesterday was just me and my hubby and we had 6 out of the 7 winners between us!! Fabulous afternoons racing to finish off the flat season for us. Cheltenham next in November - no picnics then sadly!!
Well done Ripon - you do everything so well, all you staff are friendly and helpful and the racing is always competitive. Looking forward to next year already.
This was our groups 3rd visit out of the last 4 years, and as usual everything went perfect. Well apart from the picking of winners. We will definitely be back next year.
I can recommend the Hornblower Room for anyone who is organising a group event. Just don't try to book the seasons finale because that's our day. From Jane in the office to Colin our own security man to the fantastic staff in the private bar and Ripon bet window, all helped make the day another success
There's nothing like Ripon races we've been a few times and enjoyed it. Ok Saturday wasn't the nicest day weather wise to start off with but I went with a large group of family and we ranged from young to mature!!! Yes there was an accident with two horses hope the jockeys are ok and yes one of the horses had to be put down but the course staff were professional and it's rare that this happens. Overall I will be back as the saying goes!!! There's nothing like a day at the races.
Ripon racecourse is the best racecourse I've been too yet! The lay out of it is perfect, the appearance is amazing, it is definitely worth of a 5 star plus from me, I go to every night meeting and I love it every time I go! I would highly recommend Ripon too anyone!
Probably the best race course in Yorkshire. Always a great day out.
One of the best racecourses in uk.offers exellent value,if you stay at the local ripon spa hotel, you get 2 for 1 club tickets.the layout of the place is exellent. Easy to get food or drink k,very friendly staff.Dont bother with ascot or york, get yourself to ripon!
I love Ripon races. Fantastic service and experience when our group visited the Hornblower room. I think the day is fabulous!
The drinks are crazy expensive but you have to expect that for a day at the races.
Definitely recommend!
I have been here twice. Once to the 'car on course' for a children's Day and the other in the paddock enclosure. Both times have been with family including children. I think it is a wonderful day out with lots to see. The areas are well kept and clean and lots of amenities. Lots of flower beds and seating gives it a lovely feel. The food and drink is a bit pricey but no more than any other entertainment place - just make sure you take a picnic. There are loads of seats and space to put down blankets. I found everyone pleasant and not alcohol fuelled like some reviews suggest. There are even a couple of small playgrounds for the kids. I would definitely recommend Ripon races anytime but particularly on a children's Day. We will definitely be returning.
I am so grateful to RIPON RACES - unfortunately Radio Aire has added in there small print that tickets needed to be collected or posted within 7 days albeit this was only seen when we went to print the tickets and of coarse because of the bank holiday this wasn’t possible. We have very excited children again thank you to Ripon Races for allowing us to come and speaking to Radio Aire - Amazing service
Had a lovely day with family and friends very upset over horse that died right in front of us it was very sad ,but the response when it happened from the staff was amazing they were there in seconds and very professional well done ripon staff
Fantastic day out, weather was good so that helped a lot. Perfect for families lots of space to have a picnic, playground for children definitely recommend and will be paying another visit.
Another magical day @[216924431820907:Ripon Races] as always and fantastic to see it so busy especially the biggest meet and race of the season for the course. Two winners and the sun shone on the best racecourse bar none in the UK, hospitality and friendly for all the family #GardenRacecourse #LoveTheRacing
Was here again on Saturday 21st with bankfield social club brilliant day out ... My only complaint is the price of the beer 4.50 for a pint of fosters
Great day out at the races for myself & my wife. Neither of us had been before & the course staff were very helpful. We had won Club passes in a raffle & chose the meeting with the Theakstons beer festival which didn't disappoint. Some great live music to, a local band from Leeds I believe! We even picked a winner & several places! The only let down for me was that the selection of beer in the Club bar wasn't great but that was more than made up for by the Theakstons selection. We had a great time for our first racing experience & we would definitely go again.
If you like abit of a rough and ready day out with lots of drunken people trying to get off with each other plus being ripped off by rude staff, then this is the place for you! Ripon offers a standard race course atmosphere these days really - having been to lots of race courses. The staff in the champagne and seafood bar were rather rude and not very accommodating, when I asked for plate to go with our sandwiches I thought I'd asked for the world, plus no champagne by the glass only the bottle.....two horses were also put down at this meet, not great! No free cash machines either - they charge £2 per transition....all in all it's ok, I won so not such a bad day after all, however I won't be back. There are many nicer, more customer focused and friendly courses very close by!
Visited Ripon Racecourse Saturday August 19th. Very unimpressive course, with quite rude staff. The most horrific part of the day was the tragic incident involving Mount Rock. To watch a terribly injured horse try to continue a race for almost 2 furlongs with no assistance to aid the horse by any course officials or vets was deplorable. Indeed it was the stable girl for Mount Rock who sprinted down the track for some distance to prevent the horse continuing in extreme pain and distress. She then had to endure the proceedings visibly upset and walk back to the stable area with Mount Rock's racing 'gear', when officials vehicles' were present was deplorable. The course staff were more interested in 'wiping up' after the event. A horrific event like this must call into question the management of this type incident by Ripon Racecourse. Won't be visiting this course again.
The only racecourse I have come across so far that does not offer any discount to veterans or armed forces personnel. Hang your heads in shame.
Most unresponsive staff and officals I have ever seen . MOUNT ROCK was clearly scared, in pain shedding blood, stumbling as he tried to keep going to the finish line for several minutes before anyone fromcourse acted. What took so long?! Horrific to see. The response was uncaring and ignorant by course staff to what we and others from family enclosure had seen, let alone the poor stable lass upset and stranded on the track alone afterwards. Shameful at every level.
