Ripples Waterlife, Shenstone

Anyone fancy having a stab at identifying this Malawi in the centre of the pic....it's very blue as it's under a blue light, but has yellow/orange across it's dorsal fin and tail fin. We think we know, but just thought we would seek confirmation 😊😊

Tom installed this OakStyle 145 for a customer last week, and it looks beautiful. He drained and moved their existing tank, set up the new one in it's place, transferred as much of their existing filter media as possible. He also added an aquarium bomb, in order to re-home their fish as safely as possible, and we are monitoring their water quality.

Thank god 3 days of stocktaking is over!! And at this time of year, we're carrying the least amount of stock. But, if nothing else, we re-discover some products we forgot we had, realise we have too much of others, and now know that we currently have 190kg of decorative rock out on the shelves!! (Yes...we weighed it all). Who knew.

This is an Aqua One Oakstyle 145, decorated similarly to a display that we have in store, except with a different colour scheme. Tom can design an aquascape to a colour, a budget, or a style, and all you have to do is take it home and fill it full of water...kind of! ;) We can only do this up to certain size tanks though, otherwise they get way too heavy.

This week we are going to share some of the tank displays and installs that Tom has done for our customers in the past couple of weeks. We can do everything from building and delivering your cabinet, to a full strip down of your old tank and setting up/aquascaping of the new one. Sometimes the customers have quite a specific look in mind, or want to copy one of our in-house displays, or just give us a budget and/or colour scheme to work to. This is an Aqua One Aquanano 60 Tom displayed in store.

Tom has been at it again! Revamping our Juwel Rio 125 and 180...the 125 is now the Japanese themed display with some added red for colour, and green tiger barbs. The 180 is now a planted tank with dragon stone, as we want to see how effective the new Helialux Spectrum LED bar is at growing plants, and with a selection of rainbowfish. Both beautiful in their own way.

These are two really interesting species of fish. The cichlids are Ivanacara adoketa, or zebra acara. We got a pair for Matt a few weeks ago, and were so impressed that we have 2 pairs in now. But they are not cheap at £75 per pair :) The plecs are L106 orange seam plecs, and not ones you see around much. They only grow 4-5", and are just £20 each.

Visited our Telford store today to have a good look around, and chat to Arron who's managing the shop now. Their showroom has had a full revamp, and houses a full range of different aquariums, so I thought I would show you around :) It's a big store, and well worth a visit if you're over that way....clean and tidy with everything you're likely to need, every aquarium is displayed either wet or dry to give you ideas, and their livestock is well looked after.

Our Biorbs have had their deep clean this week. Water changes, 'gravel' clean, service kit and airstones changed, and all the decor 'powercleaned'. We then swap all the decor around to create new displays, and all the fish are changed. The water is absolutely crystal :) See any you like? Drop us a message.

We're setting this up today, and we'll let you know how easy or hard it is, and get a video of the light effects. But first impressions is that it is a very, very nice light unit....but with a nice price tag!! #JuwelHelialuxSpectrum

These gorgeous mottled catfish are South American bumblebee catfish, or Microglanis iheringi. The only way we can get them to come out is to lay a banquet of bloodworm! But they're small growing, maybe only getting to 3", and pose very little threat to community fish. 😊😊

Love this place, beautiful selection of fish. Really helpful staff nothing is too much trouble, even me picking out which Hillstream loach I wanted from a tank full. Thank you also for noting down if you have any red tailed hill stream loach that you will contact me, super service. The buenos aires tetra tetra you suggested look brilliant in my 400l tank and are so colourful now. Excellent job guys.

I am new to keeping tropical fish! Since the day my tank arrived, I have been nausing the staff at Ripples with question after question after question, and the knowledge the lads have is incredible! I have been gradually filling my tank and have been guided through every step of the way. I've been to numerous stores but this place has got the best selection by far! I would highly recommend trying Ripples out for fish keepers old and new!
