The first connection between football and Riseley dates back to 1611, where a William Sharpe of the village of Riseley is mentioned in a abstract from the Archdeacons Court book, after being referred for "being about football on Ascension Day" with the game still be frowned upon by the church.

In Riseley football has been played since the 17th century where teams were formed to compete in local leagues.

During World War 2 there where friendly games played between other villages, including games with Italian POWs from the village. It was also rumoured that two or three of these where Italian international players before the war.
