Rising Café Coventry Description

Rising Café is passionate in providing quality home-baked goods, deliciously innovative classic dishes and excellent beverages that evoke the atmosphere of the 1940s within the historic setting of Coventry Cathedral.
Run by previously homeless and substance-addicted men and women, 100% of proceeds go directly towards funding their recovery, and that of many others around the country, in the charity work of Betel UK.

Betel is a Christian charity which offers free, life-transforming help to people with drug and alcohol addictions. Our peer-led residential community is based on a commitment to long-term change, brought about through the restoration of individuals to healthy, productive lifestyles. We aim to achieve this by providing structured and supportive communal living, and by instilling discipline, values and skills through therapeutic work in a variety of charitable businesses.

Since opening its doors in Birmingham in 1996, Betel has established centres across several major UK cities and cared for thousands of men and women, the majority of whom were previously homeless or exiting prison. Receiving no statutory funding, the charity raises the majority of its costs through businesses operated by the residents themselves––such as Rising Café!

Every penny earned in our businesses goes directly towards helping restore broken lives.

Know someone who needs help? For more information or to make a donation please visit our website www. betel.org. uk or ring 01564 822 356.

After a little while , I began to work at the Rising Cafe , where I was able to learn new skills , helping me with my confidence through meeting new people and working as part of a team. We were having a over night stay in Coventry so I'd had, had a look for cafes online before our visit. I came across this place and thought we really need to try it. It was lovely, very pretty and kitch. The staff were very welcoming and found us a space on a table as they were very busy but moved us once a table became available. The food we ordered was sold out but there was plenty of choice so wasn't a problem. The food was lovely and served quickly. This is just a lovely little place that's hidden but what a gem once you've found it!!

User

We live coming to this cafe, especially at Christmas time so i can have a Christmas scone, they are so yummy. The staff are fab and the food is Gorgeous great value too x

User

Visited this place just before Christmas. Man it's hard to find! But oh so worth it! Our new favourite place. Food is yum, atmosphere great, staff lovely. Just remember to book as it is very popular!

User

Visited here yesterday after a friend recommended. What a beautiful little place! We were served with great big smiles and real enthusiasm, everyone working there was genuinely happy to be there. They couldn't do enough for us. We ordered one gluten free afternoon tea and two American afternoon teas. The gluten free tea consisted of three different types of sandwiches, vegetable crisps a homemade scone with jam and cream and some homemade desserts which were all beautiful! The American teas consisted of three mini burgers, fries, a scone with cream and jam and again a selection of homemade deserts which were all amazing!!!!

The afternoon teas were £10pp and including a hot drink!!!!!! Fantastic price for something that was a real treat!!

I will definitely be returning and recommending this gorgeous little find to friends.

Thankyou to all who looked after us yesterday xxxx

Very good quality food and hot drinks, reasonably priced and generous portion sizes. Good for brunch, lunch or afternoon tea and has vegetarian/vegan options. The staff are friendly and helpful and the cafe is clean and cosy, decorated in a 1940s shabby chic theme. It's probably a good idea to book in advance at busy times as it's very popular.

User

Absolutely fantastic food and really attentive service from the staff, did have to wait a little bit for a table however what do you expect when it is delicious home-cooked food

User

A wonderful cafe with the best food at very reasonable prices. It's also good for people with allergies as the staff are very friendly and will go out of their way to find alternatives for most allergies.

A friend introduced me to this lovely cafe yesterday and treated me to a delicious cream tea. It was very busy but the waitress managed to squeeze us in. We shared the table with a fascinating '93 years young' lady who survived the blitz at the age of 16 and was revisiting Coventry and the cathedral ruins with her grandson and great grandson. Talking to her was the icing on the cake of our visit to this wonderful cafe. A real gem in the heart of Coventry!

User

We visited on a very busy lunchtime got seated after a short wait and enjoyed our lunch in such quirky and interesting surroundings staff very friendly and approachable
