Despite a much more favourable weather forecast than hoped for, as first light hit the ground it became evident that our best efforts would be forlorn. The ground was covered in water with gras barely visible in many places. The ground was hyper saturated and unsafe to either walk on or move vehicles about. We were also face with several trees down in the woods. Sadly, for the first time in the history of the club since 1985 Martin and I decided that in the interest of safe...ty the shoot had to be cancelled. Bill was positioned at the large puddle to advise those who turned out, and we would like to apologise to any one who felt inconvenienced. We used the morning to plant some bushes and clear the woods ready for the next shoot on 1st March Thanks to Sue; Ste; Bill; Martin & Ryan Hopefully the weather will be kinder and the ground have dried out to some degree.

Martin and I have checked the weather forecast for tomorrow. We intend to check again at 06:00 in the morning, but unless we post to the contrary; the shoot is on tomorrow. The shoot is cancelled due to adverse ground conditions.

Weather forecast for tomorrows shoot has vastly improved and now looks quite good. The new to us rabbit trap will be making its second debut following a technical glitch.

A good turn out for yesterdays shoot despite the fog which never cleared. The ground is slowly drying, and we are continuing to make improvements. The two new to us traps are proving problematic and require a modification to rectify the issue.

We've just learned that Richard a member of our ground staff has suffered a mini stroke; he will be out of action for a while. We wish Richard a speedy recovery.

Bill was on the sick list for Sundays work party, but Tommo and I soldiered on. We decided on an early bath due to the weather, but a chance visit to the woods curtailed our plans. One of the dead trees was hanging dangerously and needed to be dropped and made safe. Fortunately it a little lighter now in the afternoon and we made it away from the ground job complete shortly after 4pm. Sundays shoot will feature a new to us rabbit trap.

Lots of new faces at the shoot today Difficult ground conditions hampered set up resulting in a slight delay to start. The ground is now drying. The board walk on the South side has been worth the effort.

Weather forecast for tomorrows shoot is good.

As one door closes, another one opens. Due to the closure of a local shooting ground we have been able to secure a couple of almost new traps and several sets of radio release equipment. In the New Year the equipment will be brought into service and will allow the introduction of a few more stand positions to enhance the targets offered. Martin and I would like to thank all members, staff, volunteers and those who visit us a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Please reme...mber that we are NOT shooting this Sunday, but we are holding our Christmas shoot on Friday 27th. December commencing at 10am. There is FREE shooting to be won and everyone has an equal chance of winning. We have done a lot of work to combat the mud but wellies or boots are a must. All the best to all. John & Martin
