Projects typically last for well over a year, if not 2 - sometimes even longer. It’s actually not a long timeline when you consider the results can last forever. . The current working climate need not put a damper on projects moving forward. We can very easily see beyond our current situation, even if it lasts for months to come. In fact, looking beyond... the present to a better future is exactly what we need right now. . Projects in the early design Stages will progress to planning without delay. Projects with planning consent will progress through the later design Stages to tender - giving certainty and focus to the not too distant future when sites re-open. Frankly, there are no other impediments to business as usual. . New projects are very much welcomed. In fact, this might be the best time to contemplate something big! - and starting now gives us the right time to get your project ready for construction in 2021. . The kitchen at #regentsparkterrace is a lesson in constructive compromise. . Altering listed buildings requires being prepared to enter into a dialogue with the local authority conservation office. . Whatever changes you want to make will be scrutinised by the council and assessed for their impact on the value of the building as a heritage asset. ... . Heritage asset value is not the same as property value. In fact the two can often be at odds with each other, especially when you want to do something like make a large, bright, open-planned kitchen out of a warren of spaces in an historic basement. . You may end up, as we did here, with a compromised solution that we hope you agree feels anything but compromised. It is open-plan: a big kitchen spanning the entire garden level, centred around an enormous island. The design saves enough of the original walls and doors and other features to keep the historic arrangement of the house readable. . Crittall in style but made from a decidedly non-Crittall fire-rated system, as it separates the kitchen from the rest of the house above. The screen continues into the kitchen below, forming the glass doors of the larder. . Inside the glass box at first floor, #regentsparkterrace. Once this was a damp, little conservatory. Now it’s a bright and open observation tower, gazing out over the lush gardens of Gloucester Crescent beyond. . It’s a space without immediate function, but yet is draws people to it - just to sit and look out, or to read a book or pause and play with their phone. It’s a space for 2 or 3 to hang out with a glass of wine - to lean up against the radiator box and have a chat in ...a small space with a big view. It’s intimacy gives balance to drama of the big doors below. . Our design gives the feeling of a complete openness, while retaining essential, listed fabric.
