Rock Cottage Care Home Description

Duel registered to cater for Nursing & Residential clients.

Rock Cottage Care Home. . .
The perfect choice for home-from-home care whether its long term, respite or day care services you need.

With its wealth of facilities and attractive surroundings, Rock Cottage Care Home is the perfect place for the elderly to enjoy excellent standards of residential and nursing care whilst relaxing in a home-from-home environment. Fully qualified staff, who pride themselves on attention to detail and a ‘nothing is too much trouble’ attitude, are on hand to provide round the clock care.

Accommodation comprises of single rooms, most have ensuite facilities, each equipped with nurse call buttons and TV points. Telephone sockets are also installed so that payphones may be used in bedrooms. Residents are welcome to bring their own furnishings and personal items subject to them conforming with health and safety regulations.

Visitors are always welcome, and families are actively encouraged to take part in residents care routines. There is a separate lounge for visitor’s families if they wish to have privacy. Alternatively, visiting can take place in any of the comfortable reception rooms.

The quality of cuisine also helps set the care home apart. Food is home cooked and there is a choice of nutritionally-approved menus. However, if a resident has a particular culinary request, our cooks will endeavour to rustle up something appropriate. We are also happy to cater for any special diet.

There is a full personal laundry service and the home has recently invested in the latest technology for laundering clothes and other linen. It is a state of the art laundry facility which whilst washing and drying it also kills all known germs including MRSA.

Rock Cottage Care home provides quality of care which is second to none and to maintain this level of service we are regularly inspected by the Care Quality Commission. The commission has a stringent quality assurance policy so you can be reassured that your relative is in the best possible hands.

We offer a full range of activities from occupational therapy to themed events.

We place great emphasis on providing a range of activities that are both stimulating and satisfying. Our planned social outings encompass everything from visits to garden centres to canal trips and shopping trips. We also hold garden fetes in the summer which are attended by relatives and locals alike. Please take a look at the events section to see some of our recent activities and social outings.

These activities are backed up by aromatherapy and chiropody sessions provided by fully qualified professionals by appointment. We also offer the services of a visiting hairdresser on a weekly basis.

At Christmas and other seasonal times of year, children from the nursery will entertain the older crew – events always eagerly anticipated!

Today is a sad day for us all here as our care assistant Sarah will be leaving us...........until she comes back from having her baby.
We will miss her whilst she on maternity and wish her every bit of happiness for her new arrival.

We seem to be getting good at the 'Baby Shark' dance......even staff members and the matron joined in.
We class this as exercise in disguise. Quite often with the elderly sector, mobility of any kind can be difficult.
By disguising exercise as a fun activity it helps both body and mind stimulation, blood flow, joint and bone movement and strengthening of the muscles.
... Please bear this in mind with comments as we only share this to show positive effects we can do with our residents

We've had so much fun with the children from Rock Cottage Day Nursery showing us their teddy bears.
It prompted a lot of questions and stories from our residents. One of which described that she still had her doll and pram from when she was little.

We would kindly ask that all visitors to the home please DO NOT take any videos or photography unless it is with just their loved ones.
To coincide with the new GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) law Photography and videos of residents other than and including your loved ones are recorded on the homes own camera device.
The regulation also protects vulnerable people of which we are sworn to uphold.
... we thank you for cooperation

Who says today's modern music can't be enjoyed by all. Earlier, whilst a music playlist was on the Spotify music streaming service, it accidentally went on to a 'Steps' song.
We were about to change it to then see resident Marian dancing away to it.
This has given us some ideas of how we can incorporate some modern pop songs with dance moves that could be modified for our residents to use during exercise activities.
