This year saw us open two new Rock the Frock boutiques; Cheshire in September and Sussex in November. Our Love Blooms campaign will be focusing on helping you get to know the women inside each RTF boutique and exactly what you can expect from your visit!
Each Rock the Frock boutique is owned by a bad ass business woman who wanted in on the RTF mission: to help brides find a bridal outfit that will make them feel AMAZING and that is designed and manufactured eth...ically. Oh, and that is damn COOL.
The RTF Collective are the ONLY boutiques in the UK where you will find Leanne Marshall Lucy Can't Dance Milamira Bridal Atelier Muscat and the only place in Britain you’ll fine Otaduy . Because each of our boutiques is owned and operated by independent women who have their own sense of style and who know what what the brides in their area will LOVE, you’ll find different pieces from each designer in each location. For instance, only Rock the Frock Sussex has the AWESOME Raincloud gown by Leanne Marshall in watercolour. What a beauty 💙

#LoveBLOOMS 🌹
It all started in 2014 in Battlesbridge - a small town in Essex with a gorgeous antique centre, where Rock the Frock was born! Our founder Karen Whybro had married two years before and really struggled to find a wedding dress that she actually wanted to wear, let alone get married in. She figured she couldn’t be alone in this and decided to open a bridal boutique to help women like her find a wedding dress they loved.
It started with vintage dresses. Karen sourc...ed AMAZING original gowns, dating from the 20s to the 80s, then found some awesome designers who made dresses that were alternative, cool - and most importantly to Karen - ethically made.
Two years later and the boutique moved from Battlesbridge to Chelmsford, right by the train station, making us a whole lot more accessible to you bridal babes! Yay! Karen & Claire, who joined as a manager shortly before the move, packed up their dresses and moved in to The Viaducts in Chelmsford.
Two years later still, and with three more staff members, Rock the Frock Essex moved again last weekend to this beaut of a boutique. We’re just around the corner from The Viaducts, but now we have much more space - and better heating! Hurray! ⚡️

Come celebrate FIVE WHOLE YEARS of Rock The Frock with us at our Essex flagship boutique!
We can hardly believe it's already been five years! 2014 was where it all began and it has been a whirlwind of exciting times, meeting thousands of wonderful brides and making their wedding dress dreams a reality.
We would LOVE our brides, friends & industry colleagues to come celebrate with us! There'll be lots of alcohol, nibbles and lovely people to chat to! <3

After an AMAZING few months at Rock the Frock, with TWO new boutiques opening, in Cheshire & Sussex, and a move for our Essex flagship we came to realise - there’s been so much going ON that we haven’t really been talking about what happens IN our boutiques. Enter #LoveBLOOMS 🌹
This campaign will be focusing on us 💁‍♀️ No, not cos we love talking about ourselves (in fact, some of us are going to be doing a lot of cringing putting ourselves on the internet for all to see!) but... because we know that looking for your wedding dress is a BIG deal and that it can be kinda scary when you don’t know what you’re letting yourself in for.
So, over the next few weeks we will be introducing you to our boutique owners, managers & stylists and walking you through what to expect from your appointments (Prosecco, anyone? 🥂). The first instalment of Love Blooms is now up on the blog 💘

We found that RTF was an alternative but lovely little boutique, calm and relaxed, efficient and understanding. Having struggled to find the style of dress my daughter was looking for, it was wonderful to find RTF and have an actual choice of beautiful dresses. We travelled from Portsmouth to Chelmsford and it was so worth it. They knew and understood exactly what my daughter was looking for and it made a refreshing change from some of the more 'regular' boutiques we had visited. And most importantly, my daughter said "Yes to The Dress" Thank you x

User

Thanks so much to Karen for helping me find the perfect dress! Our wedding was on Friday and everyone commented on how much it suited me :-) even the registrar told me that she had never seen a dress like it before (and I would have thought she sees a lot of wedding dresses!) Trying to find a dress that wasn't strapless and didn't have 'bling' was quite a challenge so I would definitely recommend Rock the Frock for any bride who is looking for something a little different, thank you so much xx

User

Thank you to Karen and her team at Rock the Frock. I bought my dress in June 2014 (very late review) and I found the whole experience very relaxed and friendly. I absolutely loved my dress and got it at a great price. I would also like to mention Suzanne the seamstress who was also fantastic. I would highly recommend Rock the Frock.

User

Thank you so much to the wonderful Karen and Claire, I had the most perfect dress for my wedding and could not have been happier. It was also fitted perfectly by your wonderful seamstress. The little touches you put into Rock the Frock are just so thoughtful and make every bride feel so special. I cannot thank you enough xx

User

Thank you so much for helping me find my prefect dress, and for making me feel relaxed and comfortable trying them on. It was so had to find a dress that was something a little different, I thought I would never find one. I went from not even wanting to go in to a dress shop, to wanting to try on every dress in the shop! I loved mine so much, I really didn't want to take it off. It's still hanging in my living room because I can't bear to pack it away! Thank you <3

User

Rock the Frock was the only shop I booked as I wanted a dress that was a little different and it absolutely didn't disappoint. We had a fab room to get ready in with plenty of room to accommodate my friends and family. I loved all of the dresses but Jungle Fever by Lucy Can't Dance was the one that tugged at my heart strings. It was so easy to wear, I didn't want to be trussed up and unable to throw some shapes on the dance floor - which I definitely did!! I had and am still having so many comments on how fabulous I looked. Don't worry I'm not doing a Monica and wearing it to do the washing up - although that does seem a good idea!! Thank you again, I will be recommending you to anyone who needs and deserves a special dress. Kat xx

User

Rock the Frock is an amazing looking boutique (think a splash of Cuba meets the 50’s) seconded only by it's gorgeous dresses. I visited this month specifically to try on some Lucy Can't Dance dresses.

As I have an ongoing medical issue with my arms which means I cannot lift, carry or apply pressure and I live the other side of London it was a big trip for me. I emailed them about my arms ahead of time so they could help me and they couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating, Claire remembered straight away and I was lucky to have Lucy there herself to fire a dozen questions at whilst she helped dress me. They were both bubbly, chatty and put a little tomboy like me at complete ease.

It is true, they are more expensive, but as a boutique that exclusively stock these designs and avidly searches for designers for non-traditional brides, if you are looking for something different then you'll know you can't get it anywhere else.

User

Karen helped me find the most beautiful dress that was perfect for me when we visited the shop last October. We were treated to a glass of bubbly whilst I tried on dresses and the shop in Battlesbridge was so dainty and quirky. When I collected my dress from the new Chelmsford store we were helped by Claire, we felt like we had all the time to try on the dress again and I loved the new store, even more quirky than the last! The paintings on the wall by the talented Annie were just amazing! The team were always quick to reply to emails and help where they could. Thanks Rock the Frock for your service and help to find my 'not so bridal bride dress'. Love Lauren xx

User

I was dreading dress shopping, I didn't know what I wanted and just felt like I'd feel uncomfortable with the traditional bridal shop experience. Walking into Rock the Frock I instantly felt at ease, Claire was so lovely and the shop looks wicked! I tried on loads of dresses and fell in Love with a Lucy Can't Dance dress. There was never any chat about "oh so you will lose weight before wedding" which I've heard from other people's experiences in bridal shops! I honestly can't recommend Rock the Frock enough, the dresses are all incredible and the girls make you feel fabulous xxxxx

User

I really really didn't want to wear a wedding dress to my wedding... until I found Rock the Frock. They had such an eclectic and interesting array of dresses, so different from anything I'd seen, I just had to go there. I loved so many things I tried on, and I loved my Lucy Can't Dance gown. I couldn't have been happier with the service I received, and everybody commented on how unusual my dress was!

User

I had the best fun with Claire shopping for my wedding dress at Rock The Frock. She's an absolute star and the shop has the best range of dresses, I went from panicking I would be able to find something I'd be comfortable in to feeling completely spoilt for choice. We travelled up to the Essex store from Portsmouth and it proved well worth the journey - I couldn't rate the boutique highly enough!

User

I found my dress on Pinterest and knew pretty much straight away it was the dress I wanted as I was travelling to Italy to get married and it looked elegant and simple and knew I could accessorize with bright flowers.

On researching the designer SAJA it directed me to your website and I got in touch straight away to check you had the wonderful Wendy in stock.

The whole process of coming to your quaint little shop was lovely, set in a beautiful antique shop and was made to feel extremely comfortable from the moment I walked in.

THANK YOU! xx

User

I fell in love with Rock the Frock the second I walked in, by far the most relaxing and enjoyable wedding dress shopping experience I’d had! The team were so friendly and knowledgeable and helped me find the perfect dress, which I loved - can’t recommend them highly enough, especially if you’re looking for something a bit more unique for your wedding day.

User

I couldn't have been happier with my dress. I had been to several bridal shops before finding Rock the Frock, every dress is so tasteful and a bit different. It's the only bridal shop I would actually recommend. Claire was brilliant and made me feel so comfortable. These ladies know what they're doing! 10/10

User

Having known about Rock the Frock for a couple of years, I knew already these would be the girls to help me find the perfect dress, and they did not disappoint! I felt so comfortable and at ease picking my dress (the glass of bubbly helped as well). I'm still obsessed with checking out the new designers and dresses they source, and Sarah who was available for my dress alterations was lovely, quick and gave a perfect finish to my dress.

User

Dear Karen,

Just a quick note to say thank you so much for your help with my wedding dress and veil. We had an incredible day and I’ve had lots of lovely comments about the dress (including, most importantly, from the new husband!).

As I’m sure you figured out pretty quickly, I’m not much of a 'dress person’ in general but you made the whole process of choosing, trying on and getting alterations done so easy that I was able to relax and enjoy everything. The veil stayed in all night too!

Please also pass on my thanks to Sarah - her alterations were spot on and the dress fitted perfectly.

With huge gratitude and very best wishes,

B

A lovely little gem of a boutique. Found my perfect dress here and just picked it up yesterday for our wedding in August! Karen was so friendly; her approach was not pushy like every other bridal shop I went to and she made me and my family feel at ease. She was also helpful in giving advice when I was having one of my usual indecisive moments! Thankyou Karen x

A beautiful little boutique nestled among vintage wares of any kind, there truly is a magical peaceful place to try on vintage and vintage inspired wedding dresses! A dream within a dream! Any vintage loving girl would die and go to bi-gone era heaven! I was treated so kindly and warmly the minute I turned up. I felt so at ease I even tried on a dress style I wouldn't dare to before, but Karen made me feel like I could, and turns out it was 'the' dress'! Any gal looking for that special something should go to Rock the Frock fo sure! x

User

I had a really good experience at this bridal shop. Very helpful and actually listened to me when I described what I wanted. Didn't push it force anything on me. Unfortunately a little over priced I would say, otherwise I would've brought a dress. Would recommend if the dresses are within your budget. Very thankful for the help and advice!!!

THANK YOU! xx

I couldn't have been happier with my dress. I had been to several bridal shops before finding Rock the Frock, every dress is so tasteful and a bit different. It's the only bridal shop I would actually recommend. Claire was brilliant and made me feel so comfortable. These ladies know what they're doing! 10/10

Any gal looking for that special something should go to Rock the Frock fo sure! x
