This week & every third Friday of month from 5pm in our takeaways in Dartmouth & Brixham (& every Friday in Plymouth) we serve a local fish species and chips for just £3! We have some of the best seafood on the planet landed locally and this is a chance to try something new that's fresh off the market that very day. In Brixham this week we're buying some great whiting which is looking great on the market this week.

A nice glass of our own blend Seafood Coast gin should start the weekend off nicely I think!

Last week saw the last of this season's Fish Market tours run by Brixham Trawler Agents and organised by volunteers Christine, Dave and team. The tours end up with a big breakfast in our restaurant. We love being part of this great local initiative showing the wider world what amazing work is done at our fish market. All the proceeds go to the Fishermen's Mission - what better cause for a fishing town? Next year's dates start up again in Spring, more info here https://www.therockfish.co.uk/fe…/brixh am-fish-market-tours/

Visited for my partners birthday. Fantastic service from arrival to departing. The table cloth is part of the menu, it has a list of fish and the waiter marks off what they have, price and advice on how it is served. I had thai mussels and my partner had fish tacos with a side of curried mushy peas. Both of us loved our meal and we will definately be visiting again when we return to Brixham. Thank you for a great evening.

This was my first visit and it was wonderful. The temperature was about 24 degrees and my friend and I sat on the terrace overlooking the harbour. Perfect. Local, in season fish and the best thing was the whole menu was available gluten free. I am definitely going back.

My husband & I called in on the spur of the moment for a proper seaside fish & chips, the food was excellent as was the wine, we were told our food was cooked by their young chef who is only 16....... all I can say is, he’s going to do very well... just delicious & highly recommended..

Had to wait for a table but it was worth the wait! The waitress was very knowledgeable telling us individual prices on the catch of the day & how the different fish was cooked. Will definitely go back.

First time visiting Rockfish after deciding we wanted a seafood dinner whilst on holiday. The whole experience from start to finish was faultless! Amelia was our server and she was a delight full of enthusiasm and information. We had oysters which I could have had 40 of...all of our starters were outstanding and perfectly hot, then after being told what fish were on offer that night we chose turbot and hake and it was quite frankly the most delicious fish I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. We were encouraged to indulge in more chips as the were unlimited and it was hard to refuse as they were so fresh and tasty. The drinks were fantastic, I had a rockfish gin cocktail and a Devon IPA which were both super refreshing. Even the toilets were immaculate with a very funny shipping forecast being played on a loop. I don’t think I had particularly high expectations before going for dinner that night, but since our visit I have not stopped thinking or talking about it! It’s a must for anyone visiting the brixham area. Thank you Amelia x

Fantastic birthday meal for my partner. Sat outside on balcony with the view out over the harbour. Food and drinks were delicious and they even supply blankets if it starts to get chilly. Definitely would recommend!

Fab... U... lous! We went to Rockfish for my husbands birthday while we were in Brixham visiting family .

There were 11 of us at the table, the service was faultless. We were served promptly and the menu explained in detail. Everyone thought their meal was delicious . We had three people serving us, they were all very efficient and friendly. The restaurant was busy and the staff were very attentive despite obviously being under pressure serving several tables at once. We took a cake with us which was presented to my husband, candles lit and Happy birthday sung at full volume. The card on the table was a lovely touch too.

Thank you Rockfish for a memorable night.

Excellent food and Service. On a very busy Saturday evening during Pirate Weekend, We were a table of 13, served by a young waiter named Ryan who was polite and cheerful and gave us excellent service. The food as always was very good . Well done to all the staff both in the kitchen and on the restaurant floor.

User

Always awesome I’m writing the review before ive eaten as know this place would never let you down!

User

A lovely place to eat. The ambience of the place is great as is the service. Extremely nice views and if you’re lucky, you’ll see a seal trying it’s luck when the fishermen come in with their catch. The waitresss are very attentive and informative about the menu and fish of the day. Overall, a lovely experience and seeing as we were celebrating my partners birthday, made it all the more special. An absolute must for any tourist wishing to sample local fish.

User

We came here purely to try their oyster dish, and were not disappointed. We chose the natural oyster selection, paired with a couple of glasses of white wine. The oysters were fresh and tasty, and the accompanying shallot vinegar was just brilliant. Very friendly polite waitress and a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. They only thing I'd say is the oysters are slightly more expensive than other places in Brixham.

User

Brilliant food, very friendly staff but awful service. Almost an hour for our food, then left for over 25mins once plates were cleared. We had wanted puddings , but left as soon as we eventually got someone’s attention to get the bill. A shame as the children really wanted ice cream and it was their treat,

We went for a family dinner at Rockfish seeing as it was the restaurant above the biggest fishmarket in the Uk but to be honest it wasnt as good as we expected! We preferred poopdeck restaurant a few yards away! Rockfish too commercial and felt as though we were just a number. Poopdeck felt like a family run restaurant where chef who I guess was father of the family was cooking because he enjoyed it and was his business rather that Rockfish where chefs were employee's of a larger company. All the staff in Rockfish were very young and know One really in charge supervising. Nothing wrong with Rockfish, we had a nice meal but preferred poopdeck knowing money we spent was going to a local business/Family rather than a multi restaurant money making company. Also disappointed with selection of seasonal fish available at Rockfish seeing as it is the restaurant above the biggest fish market in the UK! I was chatting to a fisherman in the pub just down from our cottage earlier today and he was saying how Lemon Soles were great at the moment and yet none on the menu at Rockfish but as we passed other restaurants to get there they had them on! One of the things that were advertised on menu as local and sourced within miles of the Rockfish restaurant, Scallops! Weren't available. To be honest all the fish available we could get in Oxford and we just expected something different. As I say nothing wrong with it but it didn't live upto what we were expecting.

User

Fish very nice but not as much as I would have liked, Chips good but very small portion, when offered some more it took an age before they were delivered, by then the fish had become cold, the beer was nice, however the service was very poor indeed, young staff apparently not correctly trained, very very overpriced for what we received, overall a very poor experience, I would not expect to return there for a meal, very very over rated, we were most disappointed..

User

Been down to Brixham tonight, poor service after an hour still waiting for our mains and had to ask where it was,I had the prawns in garlic with shell still on and had to ask for a bowel of warm water as nothing was forth coming to wash my finger,we then waited for our desserts my son had a sundae and it was only a 1/3 up the glass it went back was very disappointed with the whole experience, not busy so that wasn’t the problem, standard have dropped and we are local and have been many times before don’t know whether I will be going back.
