Whenever we eat out with family and friends we always choose the Roebuck. The food is excellent ( we love the 'Sharing Platter). My favourite dessert is the salted caramel bar. Brilliant atmosphere, friendly staff.
We’ve been twice over the last 2 weeks once lunch time once early evening , on both occasions the food was very good. Great value too. We didn’t have long to wait , the service was excellent. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The pub has a warm cosy atmosphere..will definitely be back.
The Roebuck is under new management. It is very good now. (I did not know it before 2 weeks ago). Real ales good food and nice staff and atmosphere. The parking meters in the car park are not in use anymore. I am nothing to do with pub. I was just staying in the hotel couple doors away. (Which is also good but doesn't do evening meals).
Really enjoyed our meal, was worried about taking my daughter as she's impulsive but there was a really nice lady who was very patient with her, cannot thank her enough...a little bit of kindness went along way :)
Just wanted to say how delicious our Sunday dinner was this evening. Home made Yorkshire puddings fresh veg and lovely service by the lady who brought our food out. I'd previously visited the Roebuck over a year ago and the food was terrible. Will definately revisit now if the standard of food was like this evening.
Lovely decor and friendly service. Truly hope the new management do well xx
Great new menu on for autumn /winter. It wasn't very busy when we went in so we got served straight away. It didn't take too long for our meals to come out and they were delicious.
Beautiful food, great atmosphere, very friendly staff and fast service of food. I definitely recommend this place for a great meal and will be happy to return.
We was glad that they have decided to back to the old menu
Value for money very enjoyable meal
Service wasn't bad
We will definitely go back again
As long as they stick to this kind of menu
Lovely friendly pub, i just find it a bit bizarre that you have to pay to park on a pub carpark ! it would have got 5* if it wasn't for the parking meter on the carpark
I went with 12 work colleagues for a Christmas meal. We were put in the back corner which is a bit secluded to the rest of the pub. The food was OK. We had a great night. The toilets, however are very smelly. Do they not get checked on a regular basis? They're really nice toilets but need an automatic air freshener in them.
Good food great staff but took 3 hours to have 3 courses 2 staff to run the bar and serve food for a busy boxing day they did the best they could but an hour between courses is to long and would put me of booking again at this time of year.
Went on Saturday pie was nice 🍟 was cold and hard ,baked jacket potato looked as if it was made from the day before . My year 6 old grandson put a pound toy machine that did not work, went to the bar to let them know cut a long story shot they would not give him his money back until the next day he was a little upset 😠 bless him. Food use to be really nice but since change new management not the same anymore. Won’t be going back there again in rush.👎
Made mistake of going on a Tuesday when the experienced bar worker was busy running the quiz and the inexperienced one was left to pull pints of cask beer. I tried three different ones and it wasn't a pleasant experience I can tell you. It wasn't the beer, it was the way it was pulled and served, flat and without body. I haven't drunk beer since. I don't know if I can face it again. If I do, it won't be on a quiz night.
I reserved a table and was there half an hour earlier which wasn't a problem, waited nearly an hour and a half for our food order, it wasn't worth the wait, some other people left and said they had to wait an hour and the food was cold, definitely not rushing back there!
A group of us 17 In fact went for my sister in laws birthday this evening. Other than us in there it was not particularly busy, unfortunately we had to wait almost an hour and a half for our mains, only a few of us had starters which where average.
When we got our mains, food was cold, chips especially and had black Burt bits on!! (Dirty fryer fat) and food missing. We got them all very sporadic so we did not even eat together. Kids were tired and hungry and very fractious by this point so we could not even order desserts as it was far to late. So disappointed for the birthday girl, a real let down.
Went yesterday for our tea... Everything was lukewarm and dried out like it had been made for hours...and to top it off unrolled a slice of beef and it was full of brown slimy stuff ...on further investigation found it was gravy granules congested...husband got a mega mixed grill everything on it was cold apart from the chips...so disappointed as the pub looks lovely inside.
Was disappointed two days on the trot, this wed and Thursday, we asked for three things on the sweet menu which they did not have on either day. Ordered two lattes and was given hot milk we were told machine was broken asked for perkulated or instant coffee to be told no coffe at all. Then discover the parking meters in the car par. So won't be going again. A pub car park with parking meters ( what's that about)
The food was awful!!!! You can't call it beef 'n' ale pie, it was like yesterday's left overs!!!! Even chips tasted like they'd been under heat lamp for hours!!! And this was only at 12.00 dinner time!!!! Certainty won't be going back!!!!!
Terrible food. The barman with the beard is one miserable fella. Hire people with some charisma for gods sake. Nachos were disgusting. Table either side of us didn't like the food too. Won't be going back.
