We held our kids fun day charity event here on Wednesday 16th August in the Six Soldiers Suite, such a lovely grand room and the event went really well. Before the event started we found that the staff couldn't be more helpful in helping us to prepare and set up the room and they were very polite, nothing was any trouble to them and they were keen to help. Have been to a number of functions here for family and friends weddings and has always been a great day! Thank you

User

We did let there be crumbs in the afternoon checked in to beautiful rooms Italian farmhouse for evening meal. No taxis needed everything under 'one roof'. Less time moving around from place to place = more drinking time. Will be doing it again x

User

Was here for a wedding, the staff were so friendly, prices were reasonable and the overall atmosphere was just lovely. Beautiful

Wedding at a beautiful venue! Thanks for the experience

User

Stopped 2 nights for our Son's wedding, had a brill room, staff really friendly & attentive, would definitely recommend to anyone

User

Stayed for two nights for sons wedding. Beautiful room , plenty of choice for breakfast menu. Wedding meal and evening buffet were delicious. Staff very friendly and helpful. Leonie was a star helping to organise the wedding. Thank you for a very enjoyable experience. We will be back.

User

Stayed for 1 night on the August bank holiday , Sunday the 26th. This was our 4th stay at the hotel. Once again an enjoyable experience. Booked in advance for a Sunday lunch which was definitely value for money. The only downside to the visit was that this time we had to take a budget double room as I believe the hotel was just about fully booked with it being the bank holiday. We got room139 which was at the far end of the hotel and basically in the dungeons. The room was tiny but clean as usual, the bathroom was a good size. Only one small window which didn't let much light in. The worst thing was deliveries or something turning up at half past seven Monday morning and banging on the outside door which was just outside our window. Will definitely book the superior rooms again from now on which are fantastic. Don't get me wrong ... The Roker Hotel is a great place to stay in a great location. We will be back

User

Lovely place good coffe shop and excellent Italian meal in restaurant did not stay this time took mum to see the tall ships will be back soon 10/10

User

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, clean room, comfy bed, powerful shower. All you need under one roof, food, drinks, bracing sea air and lovely views. See you again soon.

User

I’ve stayed before and absolutely loved my stay. Had an issue earlier where I had booked but unfortunately couldn’t make the payments due to personal issues. They were gracious enough to let me cancel without paying in full due to my circumstances. Will deffo be staying again when I am able to afford to in the future. Also have the benefit of a bar and food downstairs with the beach right at your feet.

User

Had the pleasure of being the Father of The Bride at the Ford wedding on Saturday 21.04.18. The combination of your Six Soldiers Suite and Amanda J Events created memories that will be treasured for years.

User

The whole day was well run your staff made the wedding guests feel very special and ceremony was a light touch but gave gravitas to the couple we’ll done and thank you

Nice Hotel with everything you need on site Coffee Shop/Tea Room, Great Bar, Italian Restaurant. The boxed in hot water pipe in our room (103) made the heat unbearable. There was also several long silver fish in the bathroom. The covered terrace is a great addition being a smoker however the heaters on one side don't work. The decking needs a power wash. The windows need a clean and I don't think the tables outside ever got a wipe down. As the heat was unbearable in the room, I decided at 10.30pm to go down to the bar for a drink. I got chatting to some local people outside on the terrace. At Midnight a guy from reception came out and asked if any of us were staying at the hotel to which I replied yes. He asked the non-residents to leave and for me to make my way back up to my room so they could clean the area?!?!?! I've never been ordered back to my room by a hotel before. Overall it's a nice hotel with a great bar and I would return IF they had a working fan in every room. We did request a fan and got a working one on the 3rd attempt but that one had a screw in place of where the speed button was meant to be. Just small attention to detail that lets the hotel down.

User

nice rooms, recently renovated.

Unfortunately the hotel have charged me for bathrobes which they say we removed, which we didn't!!!! I have emailed them regarding the issue and asking them to look into it as a mistake has obviously been made, but have had no response. Not impressed at all. I was on a UK and Europe trip for 6 weeks, where they think i had room to put 2 bathrobes in my luggage is a mystery to me. I have asked for room confirmation as I believe they have made an error.

User

hotel bar and areas are fabulous, we did spend time in the bar and enjoyed it however the purpose of our trip was to relax in a more up market hotel after a very early start as my husband was running at 9am so had to leave home at 7 am to get there, we planned on chilling in the room around 9 30 pm as we were very tired however the music from the bar was terribly loud and went on after midnight so it was disappointing for us ( avoid room 116 ) i needed to use the computor that evening and the wi fi was terrible and would not connect for longer than 2 mins. If i had been staying to have a evening out drinking in the bar etc it would have been great as it really was a fantastic atmosphere . we travel up north often from Barnsley as we love the area but usually stay in the trave lodge for 40 pounds so cant grumble but we decided to splash out for a treat as my husband had been working away for a month and thought it would be nice to spend time together in a nicer luxury hotel so it was a real shame , The staff were lovely and friendly so not complaints other than the noise, we wernt even near the bar so you can imagine how bad it was

User

We drove 5 hrs to stay here while visiting family, on arrival at 11pm only to find out a mistake had been made on our booking for a month later. We were soon given a room on the quieter side of the hotel the room was quite small as was the bed which was a bit lumpy. The cooked breakfast was disappointing and as we were staying 2 nights I couldn’t face eating it on the second morning, so cereal it was. The staff were lovely who served us breakfast. Overall though I wouldn’t stay there again.

User

Stayed 1 night with breakfast next morning. Room was lovely except was far too hot during the night and noisy could hear the music from below but not too bad, great big bed and all very luxurious with great decor and very clean but room 143 (Peel) has a door beside it and banged incessantly evening and early morning and as a maturer couple we found the seating in the bar lounge not very comfortable at all should be more comfy seats rather than long couches and high bar stools!. Waited 25 minutes for a grilled ham and cheese sandwich but was worth the wait it was delicious

The staff were all very courteous and we found a great choice for breakfast so all was good in that area and the conservatory with the heaters on was very welcome.

User

My daughter booked for the Mother’s Day lunch took a later booking might as well brought my pjs as the service was very poor and waited over 1 hr for our main not one person came to explain the hold up x. Other tables waited longer with small children no coordination and no one informing guests. Expected more from here very disappointing

User

It's a bit too quirky for us but fine for one night.

Batteries needed changing before TV was responsive. Room 115 was very very hot so had to sleep on top of the bed. Once the music went off at 11.10pm slept very well. Breakfast was good but not happy that it was all removed so early.

User

Turned up with my fiancée to attend the second day of a two day wedding fayre promotion only to be told (after a wait) nonchalantly that it had been cancelled. Very unprofessional in my opinion, nothing on the Facebook event page that had been promoting it that it had been cancelled. Poor!
