A few numbers are enough to sum up how far the world of work is changing. More than six million workers fear their jobs could be replaced by machines in the next 10 years. Around 1.1 million people now work in the gig economy, using online platforms to find small, often on-demand, jobs. And a third of graduates find themselves mismatched to the jobs they secure on graduation.
Mike Rowley, partner and head of education at KPMG, said his company did not focus on a particular de...gree or content but on softer skills, which he argued should be taught to students at an earlier stage in the education system.
Role Models is all about nurturing character. We usually run Life Skills Courses for 8-11 year olds. However, from this Summer on wards we will be running courses for 6-7 year olds too. It is so important to have happy children who are prepared properly for the challenges ahead.

'Children who lack resilience have never learned the value of failure'
Resilience is not the equivalent to raising self-esteem, identifying trigger warnings or arranging beanbags kinaesthetically during quiet reading time. No. Resilience is far more: resilience is a fundamental requirement for human progress and success.
Resilience is not a mere fad, a box to tick on the way to earning an ‘excellent’ or ‘outstanding’ or whatever the next superior grading mark from ISI or Ofst...ed might be.
This is why we run our Life Skills Courses; to teach children Resilience. Our next courses will be run in April so book now to avoid disappointment

Interesting article on Resilience by Camilla Turner. It's great to see this being pushed up the Ofsted agenda….not signed off just yet though.
Amanda Spielman, the chief inspector, said the move is intended to emphasise to headteachers that building resilience in young people is an integral part of education.
“It’s about making clear that education is not just about teaching a good set of academic subjects really well,” she said. “There is something a bit intangible and bigge...r than that, and it is making sure they recognise that.”

How do you teach children to be resilient?
The current education secretary, Damian Hinds, has promoted the idea of “character education”, and the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), which carries out large-scale research projects aimed at breaking the link between disadvantage and lack of achievement, acknowledges that character and resilience are associated with a range of positive outcomes at school and beyond.

The fourth industrial revolution is fast approaching...
We know that those from disadvantaged backgrounds with low basic skills are most at risk from automation so we must ensure that the fourth industrial revolution works for all.
We therefore must help pupils develop skills in areas such as working in teams, resilience, creativity and problem solving that employers want but which are hard for machine-based learning to deliver.

One third of children exercise for less than 30 minutes a day! This needs to change!
The study also found evidence of a gender divide, with 20 per cent of boys meeting recommended activity levels each day, compared to just 14 per cent of girls. By teenage years only one in 10 girls met the guidelines exercise level.

We used Role Models over the summer. They were able to provide carers/tutors to spend time with our special needs daughter, and the two women who came were both very friendly, enthusiastic and reliable. Staff in head office were also very helpful too.

User

We are very happy with the people we met from Role Model. Homeworks are even fun now ;-)!

User

Role Models are a godsend for people who need flexible, high quality childcare, and they cater for special needs too! Our role model has been a star - creative, patient, caring and takes everything in her stride. Head office are also friendly and efficient. Looking forward to using their services again.

User

Our children love their Role model who is fantastic and professional.

Role Models agency is a great business idea and I am glad I have found them as this is exactly what I was looking for.

User

My two children had a fabulous time at the 'resilience' course in the summer. But more than a fun time that they both came out with incredibly useful tools they put to use immediately after the course. Just one example is that they now understand that making mistakes can be useful and see them as part of a learning experience, rather than a disaster. They bonded really well with the other children and made some lovely friends. We will definitely be looking at doing the full series of courses in the future. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to build confidence in their children.

User

My 7 year old daughter and 4 year old son love Role Models, we have met some amazing people through them this year - they are such fun that when I get home from the office the kids say "oh no, go back we're still playing"

User

My 11 year old daughter loves Role Models. She has had a great time with everyone they have sent over. The Role Models and full of energy and willing to do homework and all kinds of activities. They are brilliant.

User

I really thought I was looking for the impossible until I came across Role Models. Such a great concept and they really do deliver. My whole family is delighted!

User

Great customer service, efficient and flexible. Role Models found us some lovely, interesting, friendly and local people to help as an extra pair of hands during busy dinner, bath and bedtime routine after the arrival of baby number 2.

I would really recommend Role Models for short term or ad hoc, friendly childcare.

User

Fantastic! Only day one for my son at the Role Models Sen Camp and to say that I'm impressed would be an understatement! Amazing atmosphere with fully trained staff- with all the empathy and energy to meet a sen child's needs effectively, something contemporary play facilities often struggle to balance. Thank you for providing this wonderful service. X

User

Every role model we've met has been outstanding. Funny, fun, kind, organised, sporty, entertaining and able to cook. I book a role model as a treat for my 3 boys. SEN Camp fantastic too. Thank you

User
