Romford Summer Theatre Description

RST have been delighting audiences in Romford with their open air productions of Shakespeare since 1962. This page celebrates the group and is for friends, fans and past and present company members.

Each year our committee invite expressions of interest from local directors who would like to work with us. Productions are agreed in advance by the Committee in agreement with the Director. Those interested in directing for the group should contact the Committee between July and September to register their interest.

We cast from within the local area by holding open auditions each February.

Rehearsals start in March and are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (8pm-10. 30pm) and Sunday mornings (10. 30am-1pm).

Productions are staged on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, generally in the last two weeks of June. We may also stage a matinee performance during the daytime on either the middle Saturday or Sunday of the production period.

Details of when we will be inviting expressions of interest from potential directors, or holding auditions will be posted at http://www. romfordsummertheatre.com

"What are these so wanton and so wild in their attire?" Opening night is just one month away, so why not come along and find out who these women are that stop the way of Macbeth and Banquo. Tickets are available in advance at ticketsource or on the door.

When shall we three meet again? Lets hope it's not in Thunder, lightning or in rain and that it's fair not foul for Romford Summer Theatre's production of Macbeth. Why not come along and meet the Weird Sisters as they greet Macbeth and Banquo with their fortelling of things to come. Ticktets available on line from Ticketsource or just turn up on the door.

Auditions for The Taming of The Shrew - our Summer 2018 production
Venue Ardleigh House Hornchurch Dates Monday 13th November and Thursday 16th November 8pm
... Calling actors, actor/musicians & musicians! Plans for this years' play include featuring live music, so if you would like to be involved as an actor, an actor-musician or just a musician, please let us know. This year’s director, Graham Poulteney, is keen to bring out the comedy in the piece and, to give the girls more opportunity in this male dominated play, to swap gender for a few roles. The period in which he is setting the play the 1790's (the Jane Austen era).
If you are keen on a particular role, feel free to prepare a speech, which you can read at audition - you don't need to memorise it. There will be some text standing by if you prefer to go with the flow. So do come along and meet Graham, and show him what you can do! Please also let us know of any plans you have to be involved in other shows, and how this might impact rehearsals for Shrew.
If you are interested in taking part but unable to attend the auditions please get in touch.
Sound, lighting and FOH volunteers are always welcome let us know if you can help.
Production dates are the weeks commencing 25th June and 2nd July
Rehearsals will start mid April. Intended rehearsal days will be Tuesday and Thursday.
Look forward to seeing you there!
