"They were the best years of our lives. They called them the swinging sixties. The Beatles and The Rolling Stones were rulers of pop music, Carnaby Street ruled the fashion world... and me and my brother ruled London. We were fucking untouchable."
Ronnie Kray.

"The violence we used was against people from our own criminal culture. A lot of violence today is against innocent people. It has gone beyond the underworld now, it includes innocent women and children." - Reggie Kray.

This festive season we have decided to support a charity. We've chosen the British Heart Foundation in honour of the Krays mother Violet, who died of a heart attack. Please donate whatever you can.
"Mum you are like a rose. When God picked you, you were the best mum he could have chose. You kept us warm when it was cold with your arms around us you did fold. For us, you sold your rings of gold. When you died, I like a baby cried, when I think of you it is with pride, so go t...o sleep mum I know that you are tired."
A poem written by Ronnie Kray for his mum Violet Anne Kray (neé Lee) (5 August 1909 – 4 August 1982).

Fred Dinenage & The kray twins.
Whilst Reggie Kray was imprisoned for the murder of Jack 'The Hat' McVitie he saw a news item on 'Coast to Coast' now 'Meridian Tonight' about a young girls life saving kidney transplant.
Her grateful father wanted to raise money for the hospital to buy specialised equipment. Reggie Kray wrote to Fred Dinenage, who presented the then 'Coast To Coast' saying ...
... ‘Dear Fred, I saw the film on your programme about the little girl. I think I can help. Get in touch.’ Signed Reg Kray.
Fred replied to Reggies letter asking how he could help, Reggie kray replied:
‘There are some talented artists here in Parkhurst. We could make a lot of money auctioning some of their paintings.’
A few months later an auction called 'The Rogues Gallery' was planned, 13 paintings were auctioned. According to Fred, 12 of the paintings were real works of art, the 13th was a childlike painting of two boxers in a ring, signed 'R Kray'. It made more money than all the other 12 paintings combined.
Fred went on to meet Reggie & write their autobiographies including a book about Ronnie & life in Broadmoor.

"We often had no money and very little food, but she always made sure Reggie, Charlie & I always had something to eat and something half decent to wear. She never gave into despair or desperation even when times were bleak and when the future seemed to hold nothing. I would kill any man who spoke ill of my mother." - Ronnie Kray.

A passage from a letter wrote by Elsie Shea. Reggie's mother in law & mother to his wife Frances.
"The marriage was never much of a reality. After a week's honeymoon in Athens, Reginald Kray sent her to live with his mother. For the rest of her married life, she stayed variously with her own family, alone in hotels and in flats provided for her by Kray, in hospital wards, and occasionally with women friends of the Krays on trips abroad, but never, apparently, together with R...eg"
8 months into the marriage, Frances Kray committed suicide.
