Dawn Bentley, the owner, has always had a passion for great tasting nutritional food. The food served is wholesome, healthy and affordable and offers a varied range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dishes.
Roots café cares about the environment, so we use products that are environmentally friendly and recyclable.

A great night with the University of Cumbria students fundraising for the Brathay Trust. A curry night with quiz and bingo! Joe Morrell is running a whopping 10 marathons in 10 days to raise money for this charity, good luck and well done Joe xx
Great group of students from Lancaster University Vegetarian and Vegan Society gathered for my vegan cooking demonstration last night. They now have the secret recipe to my popular lentil & spinach ragu dish 😊
It’s coming up to four years since I first opened Roots doors for business and what a journey it has been!!! The customers that have grown to be friends, the amazing staff, dear friends and my ever so special daughter that have all supported me a long the way. So this is not an easy decision for me to make but I have decided to move on from the Cafe - I’m not quite sure what I’ll be doing yet but know I need to get my life back! It will be a great little business for someone who can put the hours in, it will be on a new lease and all fixtures and fitting will be included in the sale price of £15,000 Please contact me on 01524 923673 if you are interested.
