A little progress update from this morning's session, and an excellent second ride with Welsh Section D, Magic!
It has been a few months since we have had a Magic update, so what have we been up to?
After a great start with Magic earlier in the year, he developed a high level of fearful reactivity around mounting blocks, something that during our weekly sessions we have spent time calmly and confidently building confidence on (notice the zero contact rein in the photo) befor...e progressing his starting and acceptance of a rider
As a result of our training over these past few months, and a common occurrence with many of the horses I work with, there has been an obvious change in the way Magic processes questions and situations; he now feels comfortable to think through, as opposed to react.
The saying goes slowly slowly catch a monkey, but I think steady steady is more fitting.
Progress with any horse is never slow, it is only people who deem progress slow; for the horse they are just trying to find comfort and understanding.
I am very pleased to of been asked to work with this guy, as I am with every horse I come to meet; the outcome for many of them could be very different.

Great session in the arena with Rosie this afternoon, her ridden training has come on so far over these past few months!
Currently modeling a bespoke Transcend Bitless Bridle and the Total Contact Equine Solutions saddle, both part of her retraining which has seen Rosie find a new level of response and comfort :)
It is good to be back in the saddle after these past few weeks!

Official Transcend Trainer 🌟
I am pleased to announce that Rosca Horsemanship is now a Transcend Bitless Bridle Approved Trainer!
Transcend has three distinct bridles available, in English leather and soon to be synthetic; double bridle, sideque bridle and bespoke; each bridle offers no leverage, simply pound for pound direct cues with instant release.
... As each of you know I am a big activist for pro-bitless, and with this trainers support bitless for equestrians, in bitless bridles which best suit both the horse and the riders.
I am very excited about this collaboration, and feel very humbled to of been approached to become part of this.

Please take in to consideration the condition in which you ask your horse to travel, and the reluctance they may show when asked to load in to a heated trailer.

Ropework with the lovely Millie.
Why is there a rope around her middle Inhesr you ask?
Horses can naturally be very reactive to any form of pressure or restriction, not excluding around the barrel area, where naturally they feel most vulnerable.
... Common ways of training to get a horse accepting this is to tighten a girth and allow them to get used to it, however this method is a type of flooding; giving no other option but to deal and settle/cope with the external stimuli.
The rope around the barrel allows me to have play in the tightness so I can respond to how a horse feels accordingly; too uncomfortable or restrictive, I will slack the line, or feeling comfortable, we continue with some exercises.

Ross has been working with my horse for the past 3 week and the çhange in her is unbelievable. Even the dentist commented on how chilled she was. Anyone thinking of having Ross out go for it you will not regret it

User

Ross came to help with my Irish boy and straight away identified some back issues and recommended a fantastic physio. Ross highlighted that my boys problems were physical not behavioural. I'd definitely contact Rosca Horsemanship in the future.

User

Nice guy who's very helpful and very accommodating when it comes to dates and availability, has a very soft and kind approach to the horses and explains everything he does to enable you to learn and grow from the experiences he provides.

User

I would highly recommend Ross to anyone, especially if a bond has been lost between you and your horse. I now have a better understanding with my horse and more importantly we have our bond back which I'm so pleased about. Ross has a calm and quiet approach to situations and was just what we needed.

User

I really can't reccomend Ross enough. He is such a lovely guy and I clicked with him straight away. He ' read ' my youngster straight away and correctly advised that pain was causing my horse's behavior issues. Thanks Ross I hope we meet up again xx

Can't recommend Ross highly enough. We had virtually given up on the idea of taking Echo anywhere in a trailer after a few very stressful loading disasters! Ross managed to load him in 15 minutes without any stress at all. Ross's calm, firm approach worked wonders and we are now looking forward to getting out and about :)

User
