For a generation of children used to tablets and emojis, hand written letters might seem like something consigned to the history books. However, the year 4 team think that children are missing out by not putting pen to paper, the way their grandparents did. The year 4 children has teamed up with the local care home -Hadrian’s Park- to launch an inter-generational pen pal scheme.
Two weeks ago, children put pen to paper and wrote a letter to a resident at Hadrian’s park explai...ning what they have learnt in their Topic-WW2- so far. On Monday 1st April, all children received a letter from a resident explaining what life was like for them growing up in Teesside during WW2. On the afternoon, they were then able to meet their resident in person and share life experiences and stories.
Year 4 loved this experience so much they have asked if they are able to continue to write to their resident every half term to keep them updated!

All of our tadpoles have now hatched and are moving around the tank very quickly. They have long tails and are beginning to change in shape where their back legs will grow. The children were very excited to watch them.

Year 5 have had an exciting afternoon observing chemical reactions!
Year 4 were feeling very musical this afternoon!
Thanks to lots of cardboard donations from our friends and family, both year 4 classes were able to create their very own musical instruments as well as explore the world of pitch for our Science topic- Sound.
Miss Beddow said that her class were so impressed with their creations they wanted to share them with their families at home so have taken them home tonight to have a play.
... Miss Mitchinson was equally impressed and her children will be taking them home on Friday as their masterpieces need to be photographed first. Please feel free to tweet photos and videos of your children or even you playing their instruments to the school twitter - @RoseberrySchool - Don't forget to tag us! Happy Playing !
