I get asked about Bristle brushes a lot. There is a difference between the Chungking Bristle, Classics and Ultimates.
Firstly, the Chunking Bristle are what we would consider our standard bristle range. They have long, deep flags. Theoretically, the longer the flags, the better the bristle.
The Classics are made from 90% bristle, 10% synthetic. The synthetic mix in there allows for more spring and helps when cleaning the brush.This blend of bristle and strong synthetic is 'in...terlocked' allowing the brush to retain it's original shape for much longer.
Finally, the Ultimates are our newest bristle range. We have interlocked bristle brushes offer the artist a traditional brush but with double the interlock. We take two equal amounts of best quality Chinese bristle and set them opposite each other so that the natural curve is facing inwards.The bristle is selected in length and size to enable perfect balance. Although labour intensive, this gives the artist a hard wearing brush which keeps its shape for a very long time. Easy to clean and a good performer. The Ultimates are currently only available on longer handles, approx 11 inches.

Today was pretty special. It‚Äôs not every day you get asked to give a brush demo to the artists and animators at Pixar! Who‚Äôd have thought our brushes could have brought us here?! Hello, Rosemary & Co.
I just received an e-mail with form fields requesting a review. Hate those artifacts of digital commerce. Here’s a letter.
I’m an avid amateur watercolourist (outside, on the spot) and have been at it a while. My inclination, even from student days, is that better tools, in whatever area of endeavour, give better results and engender less frustration. This is definitely true in painting. Advice in books (and latterly online), and in the ether generally, ...pointed me to W&N Series 7 as the holy grail of brushes. Consequently, that’s where I started. I own several.
But as you do more work, you develop more insight into how you paint, and what materials & techniques feel right. In brushes, I’ve come to prefer the snap of blends to pure sable, especially at smaller sizes when you’re aiming for detail, not splashing around in wash.
You‚Äôre not as big a gun as W&N, but the internet does level the playing field a bit. Some online poking around in watercolour world led me to you some time ago. Specific recent dissatisfaction with my W&N Series 7 rigger ‚Äď I was getting blobby fine lines ‚Äď led to my purchase of your daggers.
I‚Äôm very pleased with these brushes. Lovely snap, fine points ‚Äď they behave admirably. They are well made, your packaging was hyper protective, and the order flew across the Atlantic. So if you‚Äôre looking for stars, you get lots. (My larger point in all of this is that quality in use beats reputation, and Rosemary & Co wins on use.)
The price was impressive, too. In art stores here in Toronto, the low-end is flooded with Princeton product, of widely varying quality, & ‚Äėhouse-brand' brushes of Asian manufacture ‚Äď both not that cheap, especially given quality. The high-end is spottily available European brands like Escoda & W&N, which are dear. Anything ordered out of the States gets hits with duty and HST, plus we‚Äôre converting anaemic Canadian dollars into greenbacks, so lower US pricing is negated.
Your firm does indeed offer value.

What a fabulous find! Their brushes are gorgeous and it feels great buying directly from the makers. I've been using the watercolour brushes and now have a few to try with my oils and acrylics. Excellent customer service and packaging too. Don't hesitate- try them.

My Rosemary & Co Kolinsky Sable brushes are fantastic. While traditionally used by watercolor artists, I find them absolutely perfect for my oil landscapes.



They keep amazing points after extended use, and hold enough paint when doing fine detail work that I can spend much more time creating, and less time refilling my brush.



Even their synthetic lines are top notch brushes that out perform anything ever ever gotten from local hobby stores.



I never paint without my R&C brushes!

Just brought my second lot of brushes to replace the ones my other half brought for my birthday ( years ago). I do pointillism so my brushes have to stand up to a lot and most would die after a portrait but theses ones have lasted me for years. I can get so much more detail with theses as well as a much more even, softer and smoother texture :)

I saw there advertising on Google. I figured I'll check this out. I saw the Quality of the brushes and how there made . There reputation for being one of a kind brushes is the best. so I ordered two mop travel brushes made of sable. when I received them I was astonished. I'm guessing the company make the brushes when you order them, they took quite a while to arrive. they arrived via Fed Ex. They came in a small brown box . they came with a catalog and a sticker plus a news letter and a personal thank you . plus your brushes . wow! these two brushes hold lots of water and paint. which makes them ideal for washes and such. they are very unique in there design and great to work with. I received my Brushes today I purchased the Michael James Smith set and I am very impressed. Initial ordering was easy via the Rosemary and Co website, from there communication on my order status was prompt and accurate. Shipping was as expected from the UK to the US but wasn‚Äôt a terrible wait. Packaging was excellent and the included information and catalog are great. I have admired the work of Michael Klein for quite awhile. I decided to try the set of brushes he recommends, and they have completely transformed my flower painting. I thought the price was very reasonable. Each brush was carefully thought out, and all serve the purposes necessary in flower painting. They create the shape of petals perfectly, and there is an array of sizes that help in painting many types of flowers. I really like the short flat brush, because it can help shape the heavy paint applications I use. The quality of the brushes is excellent as well. I could not be happier with the purchase of this set.

Excellent quality brushes at very reasonable prices = good value. And what an vast range of styles and options. Ordering from Australia, I appreciate that their shipping arrangements are efficient and inexpensive also. Have made several purchases now and always recommend to others.
