Rotary Club Of Saughall

Meeting Day /Time: Fortnightly on Thursday, 7 for 7. 30pm

Rotary Club of Saughall was chartered on 11th June 2009 with 26 founder members. The Club was the brain child of PDG Tony Cotton who visited Saughall and felt that it was an ideal location for a Rotary Club. Saughall was one of five Clubs that formed in District 1180 that year. (Liverpool City, Royden Revolve, Southport Sunrise & Ormskirk Clocktower). Information meetings took place and when the Club membership reached 25 the club chartered.

Who we are. A diverse group of people who enjoy fun, friendship and doing good within the local community and beyond. We have several couples in the group and a good age mix (currently 30-70 + )

Since Charter the Club has a policy of donating 10% of all funds collected to the Rotary Foundation - Rotary's own Charity. This has stood the Club in good stead to appty for District and Global Grants.

The Club functions as a flexible and innovative Club. There is involvement from all the members. The Club believes in transparency, one member - one vote. A passion for service above self unifies the Club.

For several years the Club arranged a Sports Day in Saughall which was a very successful community event (non fundraising) and the Saughall Mile. Other events held are: Beer Festivals in conjunction with Chester Grosvenor Round Table, Chester Rugby World Cup Beer Festival arranged by the Club, Dragon Boat Races, Charity Auctions, Quiz Nights, Clay Pigeon Shoots and Flower Demonstrations.

One of our past members designed and created, with his students, a santa sleigh and this has been used for the past 6 years in raising funds for local charities.
