Rowans Hospice

About Rowans Hospice

The Rowans Hospice is a local charity dedicated to improving the lives of people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.

Rowans Hospice Description

Established since 1994, we support more than 1, 000 patients and families across Portsmouth and South East Hampshire every year.

We provide our services free from discrimination and free of charge, but it costs £5. 8 million to continue our vital work, only 15% of which comes from the NHS. The rest is thanks to the generous support of our local communities.

Here's the article about Moonlit Memories from The News, Portsmouth. If you head over to their page, they've also just posted a photo album taken by the brilliant Vernon Nash.
We're still collecting all of our photographs taken on the night which will be posted over the next couple of weeks.

Thank you to all of our incredible walkers and wonderful volunteers who took part in our Moonlit Memories Walk last night and in to the early hours of this morning. Whilst you were walking, our night team were working at the Hospice, providing outstanding care to our patients and their families. This can not happen without amazing people like you, fundraising and volunteering for your local Hospice. We simply couldn’t do it without you. Thank you.

We're down at Castle Field getting ready for Moonlit Memories tonight! We're hoping to do some Facebook Live broadcasts depending on how the signal is.
A quick message to everybody heading down to us on the M27 this evening. I'm sure you already know but the motorway is closed between Fareham and Whiteley. Make sure you leave plenty of time to come down and enjoy the atmosphere.

“It is important for me to celebrate Angela’s 50th birthday. I wanted to undertake the Moonlit Memories Walk, because Rowans was really important to her."
Every entry into Moonlit Memory Walk has a story behind it; each one as unique and important as the next. In this week's Silver Jubilee blog, find out why Sammantha Aston, Stan Spooner, Debbie Hulbert and the Rowans Hospice Nurses are taking part.

**UPDATE** Thank you so much for all of the offers to come and take photos for us. If you have messaged us and not yet had a reply we will be in touch shortly
We've found ourselves a little bit short on volunteer photographers for our Moonlit Memory Walk tomorrow evening. Having good quality photographs is really important to help us promote the event in the following year.
If you know anybody who is handy with a camera and might be able to help us out we'd love to hear from... them. Walkers begin registering from 8pm on Castle Field in Southsea and the walk starts at 10pm so being there between these times would be really helpful.
The conditions can be quite challenging going from evening light, to sunset, to night time and lots of people moving around. If you're free to come along, please send a message to our page which will be monitored this evening and all day tomorrow

Sometimes a cup of tea and a chat can be just what you need. To celebrate Carers Week, our Living Well Centre are offering a free hot drink to any carers who visit us this week.
If you look after a friend or family member with a life-limiting illness, pop down to see us during our opening hours for a tea or coffee and (if you want) a chat about the support that is available for you at the Centre.
... If you know anybody who this might apply to but might not see this post, please let them know.

Thank you for all of your lovely comments about our volunteers during Volunteers Week.
We are lucky to have more than 1000 volunteers across all of our services and in just this year, a total figure of 140,536 voluntary hours were worked across the charity. This saved the Hospice £1,229,696.20 that can be used to care for our patients.
Thank you to absolutely everybody who gives up their time to support us. We, our patients and their families are truly grateful.
