Ethan & Jake wanted to do something special in memory of their Grandpa David Vink, after he was cared for here at the hospice.
They set about their very own challenge - to walk 100km in 100 days. Aged just 7 and 4 at the time, the boys walked every day, come rain or shine, and raised an astounding ┬Ż1600 for Rowcroft! This brings the total raised by the family in memory of David to ┬Ż2065. An amazing achievement! #charitytuesday #fundraising

A big THANK YOU to the fabulous team at Simpkins Edwards LLP who last week donated their time and volunteered at our Distribution Centre.
Their hard work meant that over 250 bags of recycling were sorted, 60 electric items were tested and at least 300 DVDs and CDs were scanned and checked. They also packed more than 40 clothes boxes to be sent out to our shops and processed 450 clothes bags. Over the 3 days we believe their help will generate in excess of ┬Ż4,000! An incredible amount.
If your company would like to take on some team building and volunteering please do get in touch - fundraising@rowcrofthospice.org.uk - it's great fun and makes a real difference to us!

**Fact Friday** Did you knowŌĆ”what we currently call the Inpatient Unit, was a house served as a maternity unit during the Second World War; 156 babies were recorded as being born here between the years of 1939 - 1942. Two of these children have even revisited the hospice to take a look at what the grounds are like today.
We don't just deliver an amazing service, we have a very interesting story to tell too. Take a read of Rowcroft's historic timeline www.rowcrofthospice.org.uk/about-us/our-h istory/

Vernon- if I googled the words "what does a saint look like?" It would come back with a picture of you. Can't ever thank you enough for everything you did for Dad, and the tremendous support you gave mum during the darkest days. It was like you were one of the family from the first moment we met you. Thank you- from the bottom of all of our hearts. Bless you.

User

These wonderful angels that walk the earth, sat and cared for my dear mother in the final weeks of her life. I cannot begin to explain the kindness they've shown not only to mum, but to us the family also. Because of the Rowcroft nurses, my mum spent her final remaining days completely free from worry, from any pain and left this world relaxed and sleeping. For that I thank you so much. Fiona was the main nurse that we saw and I cannot tell you enough of what a wonderful lady she was. Also Marcus! What a kind and gentle chap!

User

User

Rowcroft is a beautiful place, with beautiful staff, had a lovely evening on Sunday, with light up a life, placing a candle down for my dad who passed on new years day, keep raising money for this place!! They help make the last moments bareable, everyone is so kind, with a calm relaxing atmosphere, nothing is to much hassle for them, I'm so glad my dad died there not at home in pain or in a busy manic noisy hospital, thank you rowcroft, keep up the good work xxxxxx

Our father passed away on the 30th June 2016, in his own home, surrounded by his family. Without the support of both Rowcroft Hospice at Home and Marie Currie this, his last wish, may not have been possible.

The support offered was excellent, we had 24 hour telephone support as well as frequent overnight nursing cover enabling us to sleep in the knowledge that Dad was in good hands.

The Hospice at home coordinated the pain control and were able to ensure that Dad passed peacefully, they then came and looked after Dad before the funeral directors collected him. This made up much more comfortable as he was cared for so well even in death.

My wonderful husband was cared for at Rowcroft in 2006. At all times he said he felt 'safe' there. The staff looked after both of us so well at what was the worst time of our lives. I will always be grateful to everyone who works so hard to make Rowcroft the place it is - and this is why I am a weekend volunteer receptionist. Rowcroft needs support of all kinds at this difficult financial time, please do what you can so others can be helped. Thank you.

User

My mum passed away yesterday morning with me and my sister by her side. I just want to thank everyone that works and volunteers at rowcroft. You're all beautiful, kind and caring people. Nothing was any trouble. You looked after mum so well. My family will be forever grateful xxxx

User

My mum is there at the moment. No words can express this place or it's people.so grateful xx

User

My brother was here for less than a week before he passed away, but its a beautiful place, the staff were caring and professional too but still showed little extra touches like when he was too hot they made sure they fan wouldn't overwhelm him. \The view from his room was fantastic and when we visited it was lovely just to stand and stare and listen to the birdsong

User

My beloved dad passed away yesterday, after having palative care by Rowcroft and Marie Currie, at home. I am shouting from the roof tops, to let everyone know about these special angels that walk on this earth! Melodramatic, you might say?

My dad was frightened of dying a painful death, from pancreatic cancer and he wanted to stay at home, Rowcroft made his wishes possible , we had 24 hour care, an amazing team, that blended into the family, with hearts of gold.My dads pain was managed so well, that he was able to have the love of his family, in his own home and he passed away peacefully, what more could anyone ask for their loved ones? The hardest weeks of my life, were made easier, by these amazing people.

They looked after Mum with loving care, and really helped my Dad and the rest of the family during this most difficult time. Amazing place, amazing people, from looking after my Dad while he was in to taking care of my 10 week old baby in the last few minutes of my dads life. No words or thanks will ever be enough

User

All throughout my mums illness (Maggs)rowcroft kept in touch with her. Once she was admitted the care she received was astonishing . The staff, from the volunteers up to the doctors was so very attentive and personal.

ThereŌĆÖre main concern is to make sure she suffered no pain . If I had to name one particular member of staff, I just couldnŌĆÖt . They are all equal in the care they give. We as a family are so lucky Mum was able to be admitted .

ItŌĆÖs where she wanted to be and we could never thank you enough.

In our eyes every member of staff is a angel.

Thank you so much everyone.
