Starting early each year at our purpose built ophthalmology clinic in Bristol, these 15-month posts are aimed at providing a good grounding in ophthalmic anaesthesia, examination techniques, case management and basic ophthalmic surgery for a qualified veterinary surgeon. Previous experience with managing your own ophthalmic cases an advantage but flexibility, ...willingness to learn and to work as part of a team are more important. Applicants must be MRCVS registered and have good spoken and written English.

Eye Vet Profile
Meet James Rushton, or how he is affectionately known between the staff Dr Rushton ๐Ÿ˜Š James graduated from the Veterinary University Vienna in 2009 and was on the fast track to becoming a large animal surgeon. However during his PhD he discovered his passion for ophthalmology and has stuck with it ever since. He joined the Rowe eye clinic in 2016. James is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmology and an EBVS (European Board of Veterinary... Specialization) specialist of Veterinary Ophthalmology. He has authored several peer reviewed publications, presented at numerous national and international ophthalmology conferences and has received several awards for his scientific achievements. He is committee member of the British Association of Veterinary Ophthalmology and the International Equine Ophthalmology Consortium. Prior to the cultivation of his passion for ophthalmology, James was an entry level event rider, an avid karaoke singer, a passionate salsa dancer and a connoisseur of food and drink. With increasing involvement in his professional career his hair line has receded, his waist line has increased and the only thing that remains outside of work is the passion for good food, largely influenced by his wife`s amazing cooking and baking skills. James will soon join the ranks of fatherhood and is looking forward to the challenges that come with it.
