I don't like hurting anyones feelings as the hosts are friendly genuine people but I have to say how I feel as it isn't fair to anyone planning a stay. On the positive side breakfast was 10/10, however, the dining room was very cluttered. We found the surrounding area of Spittal gloomy and run down. The house was also run down and as non smokers we were hit by the strong smell of cigarettes on entering the door from the car park and the untidy/weathered frontage. The towels also had the same ingrained smell and whilst the tea/coffee facilities and bedding were clean the rest needed a deep clean and vacuum. The windows want cleaning and the whole public areas need de cluttering and the house wants money spending on it. Sadly for us the fabulous view of the sea was interrupted by a stream of dogs fowling the grass and their owners not clearing it up. (I know the hosts have no control on this). So so sorry but this fell far short of our expectations and I can normally overlook normal wear and tear but there was dust dirt and cobwebbs with too many personal trinkets non useful dust gatherers around. I cannot believe this is 3 star nor can I believe the excellent reviews but I think the owners are possibly finding it increasingly difficult to maintain the property to the required standards.

Lovely sea view. Comfortable room and run by a charming couple. What more could you want.
We stayed for one night and didn't arrive until after 8pm which wasn't a problem for Eileen and Jim who were very friendly and welcoming. Room was clean with a comfortable king size bed and a stunning sea view. Breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. Would highly recommend and stay again if we were up that way in the future.
Fantastic place cozy with great access to the beach just behind it. The staff are absolutely amazing and I would definitely recommend it
