User

an excellent venue, we saw Post-modern Jukebox in March 2018 - great sound, nice big stage, everything smooth and well organised

User

Very first visit to the venue.

Had a great front row seat in the Upper Circle, fantastic view, good acoustics, packed opening night for Mamma Mia, brilliant show and thoroughly enjoyed the antics of the ensemble.

Will be back for the Russian ballet in February.

User

To the staff, one in particular, during the Panto today. Thank you to her so much for being so understanding and kind, helping us after our son was ill during the show.

True gem who acted on true mother instincts, Thank you

User

Titanic last night was absolutely superb!!! It was great how they told the story, the singing was fantastic and the last bit very emotional!! X LOVED IT x

User

Titanic brilliant mesmerising loved it cried second act it was the best show

User

Titanic The Musical was a totally outstanding show. We thoroughly enjoyed every second. Fantastic singing, acting & dancing.. would definitely recommend and would definitely return to watch again. Gripping in parts, comedic in others. A great tribute to all who lost their lives as well. Bravo all.

User

My family and I saw The Jungle Book yesterday, what absolutely fabulous performance, from a very talented cast. Loved the powerful female leads, made for an interesting twist the the original. I burst into tears at the end! Highly recommend x

User

I’ve been frequenting both the Royal and Derngate theatres for as long as I can remember and have never been disappointed. The shows are varied so there is something for everyone’s taste.

User

I have seen countless shows here starting as a small child with trips to the panto.

Recently I saw the fabulous mamma Mia with my nan and aunt and we had an amazing time. The show was phenomenal and the venue was as usual clean, well maintained and the staff helpful and friendly.

User

Had an amazing night seeing the last ship, which was amazing - the seats were great, I’ve never had a bad view when there! Staff are always friendly and willing to go the extra mile for you. Would highly recommend x

User

Had a great evening seeing Danny Baker tonight, dont think I've ever come out this theatre so late before though. Very interesting and great stories. Didn't think the evening was ever going to end was great value and I like going to the Derngate, thankyou.

User

Fantastic evening, great entertainment. Unbelievable drum solos, and everyone, especially the girls were first class.

We will definitely go again.

We saw That'll be The Day

User

Absolutely amazing night seeing THE BAND.... Well done to all... I could watch it over and over.... love it.....

All staff were so great, happy, polite and helpful... Thank you very much...

User

What a great idea to have a play on a Sunday afternoon and we really enjoyed “The Crucible” in the Underground Theatre. The actors did a great job and we were completely absorbed with the tension right up to the end. Looking forward to others in the future.

User

Nice modern venue, although many of the seats we saw in the upper circle were ripped and covered in tape. They were also really uncomfortable by the interval - I have a spinal condition and had to take some painkillers later on.

We also had a major mix up with the tickets! Somehow the 3 seats that had been allocated for me and my parents had actually been TRIPLE booked! There was us, another couple, and a lady on her own. We approached one of the stewards for help who wasn't actually very helpful - all she said was "I'll see what I can do but I don't know if there's any way we can help because we are fully booked. This actually turned out to be untrue because there were a few rows free at the back of the upper circle, and the other couple were reseated downstairs? So don't know what that was all about.

At the end, we walked out of the audotorium to find out there had been a power cut. I was OK, just worried about my elderly parents getting down all the stairs safely. Luckily, the stewards were on hand - friendly and chatty and lighting the way with their torches. When we reached the bottom of the stairs, (I presume he was) the manager was there full of smiles and an apology.

So overall not bad, just a few things that need improvement. I will still come again, as the theatre is showing so many of the musicals currently on tour that I really want to see!!

User

I went to see Derren Brown on 28th July. Excellent performance. Really well done. However, the seats are ridiculously inadequate, especially for long shows such as this. I appreciate that this would possibly be quite expensive to update, but pretty much every other aspect of this historic building has been updated or refurbished that they are now letting themselves down massively. I've essentially paid £43 each ticket for a numb bum and a sore back... It's great that we have a theatre in our town that can attract some big name performers, and better quality seating (especially for the price) would make this a much better experience.

User

Went to see the production of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Whilst the theatre itself was just fine my evening was marred by the drunk who they had let in and who sat next to me. He was finally thrown out in the break, but should never of been let in whilst in such a state. Whilst the security staff did deal with the situation when they were called it should never of got that far. I did e.mail the theatre afterwards, but have had no response. They need to review their policy on serving drinks to drunks and allowing clearly drunk people in to the shows. The tickets for my wife and I were nearly £70 and the whole evening was spoiled by this one guy who they failed to deal with early on.

User

Having beento see last night of the proms many times before at Royal and Derngate and many other events, was really disappointed that people were allowed to film and take photos, my evening was spent with the gentleman in front filming in my view, not what I expected when I had paid over £74 for a pair of tickets, the gentleman was told by staff half way through but he just ignored them and they just stood and watching him ! disappointing this wouldnt be allowed at the cinema so why at the theatre, I saw at least 6 people filming and taking photos near me, these were on photos, the one in front of me had a special camera in a case why this had been discussed when he had come in I dont know. I was going to write but it seems nobody gets responses from previous feedback I have got, shame concert was a good performance.

User

Visited last weekend to see Shrek and was very disappointed in the theatre. When booking does not tell you that the £20 you can not see, place was dirt and seats need attention and have for some time looking at others reviews.

Myself and my daughter are keen on visiting performances and new theatres. The theatre needs lots of upgrading and a good clean. Lots of seats need repairing with more than gaffa tape. The floor was dirty and the rail where I sat is so high that even I could not see and I am 5’9. The bottom of the rail had food in and something else which I hated to think what it was. Do not forget when visiting the theatre and going upstairs people can see on the top of your bars so they should be cleaned.

Sorry to say this theatre is the worst by far I have every visited.

Your gentleman member of staff was very helpful in finding a booster seat for my daughter and was very polite and helpful to lots of people. He is a credit to you Company, just wish the rest of the visit was as pleasant.

Enjoyed the performance and the characters and scenes very good.
