We’re still remembering our performance of Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem at Liverpool Cathedral of which The Times and The Sunday Times review said ‘of the many performances taking place over armistice weekend, surely few can have got to the heart of the matter as powerfully as this in Liverpool.’
The Cathedral provided an awe-inspiring setting for the work in which Britten sets poems by Wilfred Owen within the Latin mass for the dead. Our Principal Guest Conductor Andrew Ma...nze united over 300 musicians and choristers from Liverpool Philharmonic, the Cathedral and musicians and choristers from NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover.
Liverpool Cathedral’s bells are the highest off the ground and heaviest peal of bells in the world and we’re delighted that through the generosity of donors, Liverpool Philharmonic were able to use its own set of church bells in this performance of War Requiem, which was something that Britten himself may not have experienced hearing.
Great friendships were made as well as memories that will last a life time, and you can relive the experience here - https://bit.ly/2KIlFKg

What a fab night last night was ...The Best of the West End ...amazing music ,amazing songs ,fab singers and the musicians were excellent .Great shows guys .one of the best !!!

User

Went to see the "Dire Straights Experience " on Tuesday 26th July. It was fabulous not only was band superb but the Philarmonic itself added to the "experience ".

It was a very hot night but the theatre was nice and cool. Although smaller than some other venues like the Echo Arena this was actually a big plus as the group themselves were much more than a dot in the distance. The acoustics were brilliant. Can't wait to go back.

User

Went to see OMD last night and it was an awesome evening. Helpful staff, reasonable drinks prices (we are from “the south”). All good really and they even arranged parking at the cathedral, which was extremely helpful considering everything else going on in Liverpool that weekend!

User

We have attended many shows here and every single time the staff never cease to be brilliant! We travel from near Leeds and are always confident we will be looked after. My husband is a wheelchair user and on a couple of occasions have had to change places due to the heaviness of the bass velocity and each time (and both were sell outs) they have made it possible to move and still get much enjoyment from the show. I would recommend this venue to other disabled visitors with confidence. The staff are well disabled aware and not patronising. We go to many different theatres around the uk and the Phil is definitely one of the very best.

User

We attended the ABBA New Years Eve concert and as a ‘non’ fan I really enjoyed it. The West End cast were excellent and the orchestra were brilliant too, one of the best New Years Eve’s we have had and I would recommend it to everyone.

I have read other comments about mobile phone use - not an issue at all and the staff are quite vigilant.

The Philharmonic is a great venue and we have attended other events there including Comedy Evenings so book your tickets and enjoy!

User

Just loved the place and especially the Audience with Simon Reeves

User

It was my first visit last night to see David Serdaris and loved every minute of it I can not wait for my next visit

User

I'm a few weeks late leaving feedback, but would just like to say how we enjoyed the Vertigo with Live Orchestra playing Bernard Herrmann's fabulous score.

What an experience! My eyes filled with emotion from the opening credits at the thrill of hearing that music in the round.

More of this please! Some suggestions: Hitchcock's Psycho (another Bernard Herrmann score) and Kubrick's 2001.

User

Great place to hear live music and the family event yesterday was terrific and good value for money would recommend to all.

User

Great old world feel and very stylish surroundings. Staff were quick to serve and chatty - good to see. Will definitely be back my next trip to Liverpool.

User

Great night listening to songs from the west end shows Tuesday. l enjoyed every minute of it

User

Attended yesterday for my sons Graduation, what a beautiful setting for such a special day

User

Attended for Haydn, and Beethoven on June 15th. A fabulous lunch time concert. Quality. Haydn's cello concerto was so glorious thrilling that I wondered if Beethoven could hold his own. I needn't have worried. The orchestra was absolutely spot on in its vigorous interpretation of the 5th! Wonderful.

User

An excellent venue, Art deco in style and very swish, great location with places to eat nearby. I think the acoustics are great. Good ice-cream too

User

Amazing performance from Karen & Kevin ,dancing superb, the chemistry between them was awesome, we were in row H and we were able to see all their great foot work too. The singers were excellent. Great show certainly recommend anyone to see it. I took my mum who due to her age & dusabilities hadn't seen a show in 20 years she enjoyed it so much she said she would certainly return to the Philamonic. Thank you to the staff who were very helpful & polite.

User

The staff are so lovely! They welcome everyone and direct them to their seats with a smile.

My only complaint is the queue for the toilets...they need updating urgently

User

Received the April - August What's On today. If events are sold out (and you have the ability to reprint the brochure with "sold out" on it, why not just delete the event from the brochure instead. Why show events to people that they cannot possible go to? That are not even available? It just frustrates and disappoints and is very poor marketing psychology. Such a basic mistake. Makes me just think, why bother with these people at all?

User

Love the venue, loved the Jools Holland concert; hate that people who stand motionless in front of you, and partially blocking your view of Ruby Turner; choosing to use their phones to record onto a comparable small phone screen (to never view or make available to others who didn’t bother booking) what they could easily view live considering the price they’ve paid. Staff used to stop people doing this it at the very least, tell people not to. Very disappointing.

User

I really enjoyed the show with Kevin & Karen Clifton. Their performance and that of the team was great. The lower stage made them feel a lot closer to the audience. The toilets were hard to find with differing directions of where they would be and there seemed to be signs but no toilets. The worst part of the experience was the lack of parking in the local area to the Philarmonic Hall. It seems that you were expected to ask a local hotel to use their car park. We therefore had to park a distance away and as I use a walking stick that was very inconvenient.
