Visited the Royal Oak for the first time on Sunday 12th November 2017 With my six year old twins and a group of friends. I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised . I am disabled with severe breathing problems and this pub was perfect for me. There was a lift up to a fantastic children’s area, clean toilets, excellent Sunday dinner, service with a smile and a warm welcoming atmosphere...would thoroughly recommend- Thank you - Mrs Colley
We visited here on 7/9/17 and thought we'd reviewed on google but hadn't. We had the steak and ale pie, we didn't think any pie could match the humble pie shop in Whitby but this was just as good. The pie was packed with meat and gorgeous. The chips were home cooked, the portion sizes were generous. Fantastic meal, service and value for money. Worth a visit !!!
Stunning food. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Just what we needed before our journey back to Wakefield. Would definitely recommend. ❤
Staff was friendly and the facilities were good, but the food was a major let down. Dry sandwiches meant to be with salsa and charred meat; not necessarily a problem but we wouldn't have ordered kids burgers if we knew they'd be done that way. Excellent coleslaw though. Car park has plenty of room and the outside play area was a good size.
Great place to bring children. It has a fun area indoors, as well as a bouncy castle outside with play park. Carvery every Sundays. Reasonably price. Rooms available / over night stays, Large car park.
A lovely pub with reasonable prices. Able to accommodate a large party. Food was very quick and great portion sizes. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. A great family pub.
Good food nice staff
Very nice pub friendly staff lovely food looking forward to another visit
We ordered starters and main. We couldn't eat it all. Really good portion size and quality of food. Good service. Would certainly recommend.
Went for the Sunday carvery, portions fine, beef was stringy and tasteless, veg was fine. Found some of the staff quite rude, as we were put at the back of the pub where there was no room for the pram or for us to sit confortably without constantly being barged into. It was very busy, but no apologies for knocking into us and we cleaned our own table before we could use it. Personally, I wouldn't return
