Royal Opera House Description

The Royal Opera, under the direction of Antonio Pappano, is one of the world’s leading opera companies. Based in the iconic Covent Garden theatre, it is renowned for its outstanding performances of both traditional opera as well as commissioning new works by today’s leading opera composers such as Harrison Birtwistle, Mark-Anthony Turnage and Thomas Ades.

Some of the most famous singers of all time have performed with the Company including Plácido Domingo, Angela Gheorghiu, Anna Netrebko, Renée Fleming, Bryn Terfel, Jonas Kaufman, Rolando Villazón, Juan Diego Flórez, as well as the late Luciano Pavarotti and Joan Sutherland.

The Royal Ballet, led by Director Kevin O’Hare, is Britain’s largest ballet company. The Company has a wide-ranging repertory showcasing the great classical ballets, heritage works from Founder Choreographer Frederick Ashton and Principal Choreographer Kenneth MacMillan, as well as new works by the foremost choreographers of today. Access is a key issue for the Company and its work is seen not just at the Royal Opera House but via televised and cinematic performances, outdoor Big Screen performances, international touring and through the work of the Company’s Education Department.

ballet dance has one of my favourite & if I would like to do it

User

Who is singer playing Queen of the Night? She is magnificent and frightening, of course.

User

We show the live events in Talla Duisdale on the lovely Isle of Skye. Everyone who attends loves all the operas and ballets and it is a wonderful experience for people living remotely to be able to have this opportunity.

User

The hard work you put in everything you do is incredible. The ballets are the magical and perfect result of all the effort and the love you put into them. Thanks for all the wonderful and inspirational nights you give us.

Swan Lake, Sat 9th June 2018

Beautiful ballet with Ball and Osipova - mesmerising, opulent set, so elegant and just beautiful - loved seeing so many Swan dancers on stage

User

Loving Swan Lake from the tiny Pavilion Cinema in Hailsham East Sussex. We're full!!

User

Loved the performance of Swan Lake. The par de deux was so fantastic and captivating that I was transported to a whole new experience. Thank you x

User

Just saw Swan Lake ... spectacular!

The ballet, the scenery and costumes were out of this world. Iv been fortunate enough to see a number of ballets at ROH but nothing will top this!

User

I love every second of every production Amazing artists and great professionalism

User

Heavenly, can't wait to return and see the Impact of the improvements

User

Great place to spend an evening. Liked the fact that free water was provided for those of us wanting to stay completely sober for the magnificent performance.

User

Even though still the renovations go on, a wonderful venue and a brilliant performance, loved it

User

Amazing!!!beautiful and sublime art.

i cant wait to visit this marvelous place...

User

Always a wonderful evening thanks to the lovely staff at the Opera House who never fail to be courteous, thoughtful and as helpful as they can be to my wheelchair bound husband.

User

Absolutely Brilliant available next 30 days on u-tube a must if you missed it, thank you so much, believe Classic FM got me seeing this

User

A place where one of my favourite ballet companies perform often!!! I watch their YouTube videos every day without fail.

User

World class shows, mediocre atmosphere.

User

Lovely building though view of the stage can be restricted even when sitting in the expensive (£184 per ticket) third row if- as happened to me last night- some very tall man who is also sitting on his two coats sits in front of you. Not enough toilets either. Oh and whoever thought of letting that director loose on Carmen should be sacked. Opportunities to see this great opera are very limited for those who live well out of London and you wouldn't want this travesty to be your only experience of Carmen. I would never have paid the exorbitant ticket prices had I known the mangling the opera would get. Please don't do it again, ROH.
