It’s a close fit! Bibby Hydromap’s survey vessel ‘Lia’ lifting out this afternoon. She is the widest boat we have lifted and as there is only a whisker to spare we definitely won’t be lifting one any wider! However all was judged to perfection by the yard crew and skipper Steve, and she is now sitting pretty on the hard.

Fill her up! Yes sir! The 'Pride of the Tyne' coming alongside for a drop of fuel - dwarfing our fuel berth in the process. A good job we had just taken a new delivery 10 minutes before hand!

An icy start but then blue skies all the way today. Please take care on the pontoons and on your decks! We salt the main access ramp and the bottom of the main walkway. If you need additional salt for the area around your boat please help yourself from the yellow bin at the bottom of the ramp. We use pure white rock salt to help keeps decks clan, not the nasty brown stuff used in the roads.

The new 'Winter Warmer Menu' at The Lock looks very tempting, and at only £15.00 for two represents great value. Just the thing for days like today. Why not treat yourself or enter the competuition below:

It was cold, dark, and wet, and about the time when most folk would be sitting down to their tea, so full credit to the crew of RNLI Tynemouth and the staff from the marina for turning out for rescue drills on Monday evening. The marina is a large body of deep water (about 18 ha), with the potential for accidents involving both boaters and members of the public, so it’s important for the local crew and marina staff to be prepared. Support your lacal lifeboat!

A grim day. 35 kts ENE, 7 degrees C, and heavy rain squalls. No wonder the fishing fleet is tied up! Hopefully things will settle down for the end of the week.

Keeping fishermen safe! As all personnel are required to wear a life jacket when getting on or off a vessel from the Quay, we have now provided lockers to store life jackets when trawler crews come ashore. Stay safe!

The UK Border Force vessel 'Alert' lifting out this afternoon. Naturally our resident swans had to give it the once over before we could go ahead.

Great news! Oceanic Sea School are back up and running offering powerboat and VHF radio training at Royal Quays Marina.

A great boat for our northern waters (or head south if you must). Not only will she cruise economically all day, she also offers the accomodation of a much larger boat, and is powered by a very highly regarded Cummins diesel.

One of sister marinas at Rhu has been shortlisted for the 2018 British Yachting Awards. Rhu is a little gem of a marina with a great team who have a made a real effort over recent years, culminating in the recent 4 Gold Anchor accreditation. Please support them with your vote.
