Happy #Caturday! Months ago we had quite a crew of very shy cats - 13 in fact! They started out in a multi-cat household without much confidence or proper interaction with people. Jeff was just one of these special moggies, and we're so happy that he's got such a wonderful life now. We were thrilled receive an update via a recommendation from Meg recently. Meg says: "My partner and I adopted Jeff in March. He was really shy at the beginning and it took about a month for him t...o feel confident with us and his new home. He his now a very cuddly and talkative cat who loves belly rubs, hunting and bringing a lot of presents from the garden. We are really happy about the experience we had with Patcham/Brighton RSPCA and would definitely recommend it."
It is so rewarding when you take a chance on a special cat and watch them grow and come out of their shells. Thanks for the update, Meg! #rescuecat #blackcat #rspcabrighton #adoptdontshop #rspca

Thank you for ALL the recent donations we've received. We really couldn't do this without your generosity - towels, treats, toys, you name it. Our special boy Otis especially loves what The Pet Shed Brighton delivered last week! #thankyouthursday #thepetshedbrighton #brightonrspca

Next month is our OPEN DAY which is our biggest fundraising event of the year!
There will be a dog show and other fun activities for your dog including temptation alley and tennis ball bobbing! We will have games for kids, an auction with great items to bid on, stalls from our shelter and other charities and animal related businesses and our staffie awareness stall, with competitions to win doggie hampers. There will be a veggie BBQ, ice creams and LOTS of different cakes ...and refreshments. Pop into our shelter to meet the animals who are looking for homes and the reason we need to fund raise.
This is a big annual event for us. We are separate from the National RSPCA which means we are entirely self-funding. Please come along and support the shelter - it's a great day out for the family and dogs!
Please share and invite your friends 😊

🐈🐾 UPDATE: CRISPIN HAS LEFT THE BUILDING! He is off to a wonderful home where he will be treated like a king. We are so thrilled he's made the perfect match, but will miss his cheeky character. Thanks to everyone who shared his story. 🐾🐈
Crispin has now been with us for SIX MONTHS. He's not only our longest stay cat, he's our longest stay animal full stop! He deserves a home soon - black cats (and dogs) spend the longest time waiting for a new family. Could you be the one Cri...spin has been waiting for?
He'd like to be the only cat in an experienced home, with no dogs. He needs a garden as he enjoys adventure and spending time in the sunshine and fresh air! He could possibly live with older children who are used to cats. He's about 3 years old - he's neutered, chipped, and up to date on all vaccinations and flea/worm treatment.
If you have a COMPLETED home visit and would like to meet Crispin, please speak to a member of staff. If you would like to arrange a home visit to adopt Crispin (or any cat), please visit the shelter and ask in reception. We are open Tuesday-Sunday, 10:30am-4:00pm.

We were thrilled to welcome back AchyPaw Canine Physical Therapy to our shelter! They spent a lovely afternoon showing staff and volunteers some techniques to help soothe our rescue dogs. The dogs (and humans) really enjoyed their time together and the dogs will really benefit from the massage skills we've learned. Thank you, Les and Chris, for all the incredible work you do!

Today’s update is from Teddy our lovely Staffie:-
Teddy is doing so so soooo well. Life would not be complete with out him by my side. This time 3 months ago he had real bad separation anxiety but with training and determination between myself and my partner we have managed to teach him he’s ok when we leave him for a couple of hours and that we are coming back.
He’s so well behaved in his new home. He’s good with other dogs also which is great. Maybe a little too boisterous... for the smaller breeds but that’s another mission to tackle next. His personality is always forever growing and he truly is the bestest friend ever! Every morning we go for walkies before work. Then after I finish my post round we walk along the river Thames and go exploring in the local woodlands. We are pretty much inseparable till walkies the next morning. 😁
Since Teddy moving in we have been to Dawlish Warren for a week to run around on the beach and explore the seaside town and countryside and we also visited Dartmoor National park where we saw so many amazing views. We also love to see the views on top of Box hill at least once a week and have been on many road trips to Kent to see my family who all adore him! He is such a character and makes my day with his ditsy nature. He’s so funny. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
