About Rspca Isle Of Wight Branch Registered Charity No 205311

We provide care and support for all of the Island's animals including a diverse range of wildlife.

Rspca Isle Of Wight Branch Registered Charity No 205311 Description

The Isle of Wight Branch of the RSPCA is an independent charity operating under the rules and conditions of the nationally recognised RSPCA. We are entirely funded by the generosity of the local community and all monies raised on the Island are solely for the benefit of Island animals.

We house, care for and rehome a great diversity of domestic animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, birds and other small animals.

We also care for sick and injured wildlife with the full intention of getting these animals fit to be released back to the wild.

We firmly believe that every animal in our care deserves a chance in life and it is our policy to never put down an animal unless advised to do so for medical or safety reasons.

The Branch is open every day except Mondays and bank holidays, from 11am-4pm with last viewings of the animals at 3. 30pm.

If you have any queries about rehoming or adopting an animal or need any advice about general animal care, please do not hesitate to contact the Branch on 01983 840287.

PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS ABOUT THE WELFARE OF AN ANIMAL OR FIND A SICK OR INJURED WILD ANIMAL, PLEASE RING THE CRUELTY LINE ON: 0300 1234 999

All photography (except the really rubbish stuff! ) kindly provided by Alison Parsons-Smith. Please have a look at her website!

We hope everyone is enjoying their sunny Bank holiday. As always the Godshill centre has been busy! Today in the Wildlife Department it was the perfect day to release our Buzzard She has been in our care for about a week now after being taken in with case of avian herpes. She has completed her course of medication and been allowed time to recover and build her strength back up. She was released back into the Newport area where she was found. We didn't quite capture the mome...nt she came out of her box but we hope you enjoy seeing her soar off back to where she belongs ¤”ģ
The smaller bird giving the chase is a Jackdaw likely protecting the area as there may be young birds about
Being able to rehabilitate animals back to full health and set them free is an extremely rewarding part of our job - we can always use the public's help with any donations that you can give towards our developing wildlife department. You can find some items we are in need of such as food on our Amazon Wish list https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/3 RWCF94X1R2DYŌĆ”

At the Godshill Centre the staff are busy crafting crochet bird nests, mice and fuzzy pom poms for the animals to play with. With a bit of cat nip our cats will have hours of fun with the pom poms and mice. Nests are made in a variety of sizes to suit all the different nestling and fledgling birds we get in over the Spring and Summer ¤ÉŻ If any one would like to join us with our little on going craft projects, the staff and animals would really appreciate it! We would be happy to accept any donations at the Centres reception ¤ÉŠ

Hi we have got a few cats at the moment that would not be suitable for home environments but if you have any stables/ small holdings/ land where the cats can have some shelter and can be fed please get in touch.
We are doing feral release programmes where we provide the initial set up for you.
Please let us know if you have any more questions.

A year ago today we took in an orphaned red squirrel after some bed weather much like today ¤É┐ He was successfully released on the RSPCA site and has been spotted regularly along with several other squirrels since ¤É┐ Staff have installed a feeding box to ensure he and his friends are well fed. We would welcome any donations of food or feeding stations to help sustain our little local squirrel community ¤É┐ŌØż¤É┐ See the comment section for an all grown up progress photo of the litt...le guy Amazon Wish list for Wildlife https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/3 RWCF94X1R2DYŌĆ”

The Radio that a kind lady got for us. The cats are enjoying it. Thanks to all that sent us radios. They will really help our animals.
If anyone would like to send one like this then please do as we have many more animal areas that would benefit from some music. Thank you.

If anyone has any boom box radios they no longer need, please can they bring them to the centre so we can use them for music for the animals. Also we are after a kettle and a microwave for the kennels. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.

These two handsome chaps are Jack and Bear. They are looking for their forever home together. They are playful young boys roughly 1 and a half years old. They get up to all sorts in our cattery and very fun. They enjoy attention and fuss and very much enjoy greeting people. They would need a garden. They would very much like to meet you so pop in and see if you could offer them their forever home.

User

This lovely lady is Motee and she has been with us the longest in the Cattery. We would very much love to see her in her forever home. She is an older lady at 11 years of age but is still very active. She loves a fuss but also enjoys her own space. She would love a garden to sun herself in. Sensible older children only please. If you could offer this lovely girl a home then please get in touch.

ŌØŻŌØŻMARLEYŌØŻŌØŻ
Marley is a 4 year old american bulldog and despite his size, still thinks he belongs on your lap! Apart from being obviously very photogenic and possibly having the biggest happiest smile you've ever seen, he's also a total social butterfly. He laps up all the attention he can get from people, loves making new doggie friends and is even a gent around children.
... If you'd like to offer Marley a home please fill out a perfect match form at https://www.rspca.org.uk/ŌĆ”/stŌĆ”/findap et/applications/DOG.pdf and email it to reception@rspca-isleofwight.org.uk And we'll call you to arrange a viewing.

Fancy adopting this handsome boy? Sam is a lovely tempered, 4 year old German shepherd, he loves nothing more than to play in a paddock, he especially likes cuddly toys. He walks nicely on a lead and enjoys his walks around the centre. He is brilliant with strangers and always adores greeting new people.
He is also good with other dogs around the centre and has proven he'd love nothing more than to play with them. As Sam is still young and shows high levels of intelligence and motivation for training, we are ideally looking for someone who could continue this. Sam could be rehomed with children 14+ pending introductions.
If you feel you could offer this young lad a home don't hesitate to contact the centre on 01983 840287.

It's that time of year again where new baby animals will start to appear here and there. We are hoping to see squirrel kits again around the centre this year. Pictured below is a kit that had to be hand reared by staff after being abandoned by his mother. These donations have meant that we can fill all our on site wild Bird feeders and squirrel box to help out new parents looking for food.
We welcome and are greatful of any donations to help feed the locals and even house th...em if you have any spare bird/squirrel/bat or bug boxes. All this and more can be found on our Amazon Wish or you can drop any donations off into the centre ¤É”¤”ć¤”ö¤É┐¤Éć

We were nervous about putting our little cat Sabrina into a cattery for the first time, but Bohemia Boarding is outstanding. Helpful, caring, knowledgable staff, spotlessly clean and adequately spacious facilities, and catered exactly to Sabrina's specialist diet, we will definitely recommend you and use you again if we need to

User

User

Hi there,

I found this branch really helpful and friendly. I adopted a guinea pig from here to be a mate with my existing guinea pig (adopted from Pets at Home). The inspector that came to inspect my home to see if it was OK for the new piggie was also polite and friendly. I took the integration process really slowly and I am pleased to say it was successful. The piggie that I adopted from here was apparantly a stray. He didn't smell very nice and had a coat the texture of a Brillo pad. But now his coat is transformed to a softer, shiny coat and he looks very good. They are both thoroughly spoilt though! Shame that I don't seem to be able to add a photo of them?

User

Have rehomed many animals from here - a very caring place.

User

A lovely, caring rescue centre. We have adopted 4 rabbits from here and also send them back to board when we go on holiday as I know they are given 5 star care and attention. A big shout out for Georgie in the rabbitry who is always smiling, happy to advise us on the rabbits and go the extra mile. A great place and a great team

User

A huge thank you to the lovely rspca team who acted really quickly in getting a cat trap to me so I could catch my 7 month old kitten that managed to get under the floor boards whilst moving house, I am so grateful and over the moon to have my boy back with me, I will most definitely be donating as much as I can to this wonderful charity! :)

User

A few days ago I found a rather poorly looking Jack-Door on our driveway, brought the little fella inside and phoned the RSPCA. A lovely gentleman was sent round to collect this beautiful bird. The lady on the phone was lovely, and the gentleman was very friendly, he was also very caring and gentle with our little friend. Thank you
